I don't care if you owned a letterman jacket and won state or can't throw a football to save your life, we all love a classic early 2000s sports movie. There is something about this simple formula that is a solid tearjerker. So let's poke some fun at possibly the best genre in American film and look at some cliches every movie is filled with.

1. "This is bigger than football (or insert other sport)"

Giphy

This line is probably said during halftime of the championship game.

2. Sports fix racism!

Giphy

Sports totally bring people together, but sorry you did not solve racism in a 1.5-hour film by bringing a few sweaty boys together to run some sprints. A good start, but let's not over simplify reality, people.

"Let's prove em wrong"

Giphy

Who are you proving wrong?? Unclear.

4. LOTS of inspirational music

Giphy

Most of a sports movie is just music while people are running and getting in better shape.

5. And LOTS of shirtless boys

Giphy

I don't hate it, but after the sixth locker room scene that doesn't advance the plot I start to wonder if their motives.

6. The underdog

Giphy

Ah, the skinny kid gets the girl and wins the championship game. That is the american dream.

7. A steamy romance

Giphy

This isn't the main plot and they often leave out a lot of clarifying questions and key details about the relationship, but nevertheless, the romance is there. These movies dip their toe into rom comm in attempts to be a movie for the whole family (and have at least one actress in the cast).

8. The least creative mascot name EVER

Giphy

Wildcats? Bulldogs? Panthers? Thank u, next.

9. Slow motion running scene

Giphy

We get it, most sports require running. Does this advance the plot? Not really.

10. Hard core parent

Giphy

Ah the classic parent that is living through their kid. Bonus points if the dad would have gone pro but he tore his ACL or some other sports injury.

11. Based on a true story

Giphy

Brb crying.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
