If You're A Big Ten Student And DON'T Go To Games, Your Semester Will Be Objectively Worse

Sports events in high school were never my thing. At all. Little did I realize how they would become such a big part of my life in college.

I knew tailgating was huge. It’s always like that at a big ten school. What I was not aware of, was the amount of school spirit and love for Indiana University that would bring such a big school together.

Saturday morning rolls around. It is game day and you know it. The campus is coated in cream and crimson and people are out and about ready to get the game day antics started. One of the best parts for me was waking up and getting ready with my friends. Blasting music and taking your time getting ready for a great game is an awesome way to start the day.

Getting to the game early and finding your seats is good. The fields are covered with players stretching and music is blaring. All around a really good time. People file in slowly starting to fill the stands. The hype increases more and more as people come in and you can just feel the excitement and anticipation.

Kick-off is right around the corner and everyone is pumped. My friends and I placed bets on who was going to start where and it was always fun to see who was right. The spirit leaders down at the front of the stands are hyping people up and the cheerleaders are yelling chants. These are things you are going to remember for a long time.

The first touchdown by IU is one to remember and people go nuts. The crowd is yelling and chanting and "Cream and Crimson too! IU!!" There are fists and blades all over the place. Your friends cheer and everyone is as excited as they could be. It's a memory you share with people you care about and that says so much more than people know.

These are things you just don't happen to forget.

If you start out like me thinking sports are not for you, don't knock it till you try it. They can really make a great weekend even better. The love and spirit for IU is unlike any other campus and it makes you so proud to be a Hoosier. Give it a shot. You never know what could happen!

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
