Why Halloween Is My Favorite Holiday

t's that time of year again. The time of year when you can go out in your favorite hoodie or sweater without the fear of overheating. The time of year when literally everything is apple and pumpkin flavored. The time of year when bite sized candy is plentiful because of the last day of October. There's nothing about autumn that isn't absolutely wonderful. Even the trees seem to agree as vibrant yellows and oranges come out to greet the world. The absolute best part of fall however, is Halloween.

It's time for spooky, creepy, and scary things to come out to play. Broken dolls, zombies, skeletons, ghosts... You name it. But the absolute best part of Halloween is no one will judge you, or give you weird looks if you're in costume. Becauses everyone is in costume too!

It doesn't even matter if you celebrate the holiday or not, it's fun for literally everyone. Including the cosplayers like myself. I cosplay all the time, and get the oddest look when I walk around on campus with my costumes or theatrical makeup on.

It's so nice to be able to go out and show some of my talents without getting strange looks. I cosplay all the time after all. I mean how easy is it to just wake up, decide not to do your hair, and simply throw on a wig? I mean it's literally that easy. I don't know why it's not more commonly practiced, as the wigs can honestly be super cute.

I know I'm not the only cosplayer who's favorite holiday is Halloween either. I mean how could it not be in the top five at least? There's the opportunity to wear a costume and dress up as your favorite character. There's the possibility of free candy, and parties. There are always parties on Halloween, or at least the weekend before.

Honestly, Halloween is by far the best holiday. With everything there is to do, it's a wonder that it's not everyone's favorite. Is it because Halloween falls on a Monday this year? Because honestly, that isn't going to stop me from having a great time hitting up Haunted Houses, and it shouldn't stop you.

Just be sure you're skeleton is strong and ready to fight in the skeleton wars.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
