Spoon University: New To OU

Attention all Athens foodies: Spoon University has recently expanded and a chapter has been started here at Ohio University. Spoon University, according to its website, is "the everyday food resource for our generation, on a mission to make food make sense." Essentially, SpoonU is an online platform that celebrates all things food, and what could be better than that? Food blogging has become extremely popular as social media use has blown up, and Spoon University provides a platform for college students to build connections over their love for food.

College is a time of firsts, and a major first we sometimes forget is navigating a kitchen on our own for the first time. Spoon University makes it simpler for college students to adapt to cooking for themselves by providing simple recipes, tips for bargain grocery shopping, and the even the best places to grab something to eat at several campuses around the nation.

Ohio University offers some of the most unique and diverse eats of any college campus. Court Street is packed with a variety of different restaurants that serve up anything from Americanized burritos at Big Mama's, to fried just about anything at Souvlaki's, and even gourmet hot dogs at O'Betty's. Spoon University's chapter here at Ohio University will give Bobcats the opportunity to celebrate their favorite foods here in small town Athens, Ohio.

Spoon University is also on a mission to target college students that are a little lost in the kitchen. SpoonU offers general, as well as campus unique tips, to maneuver the kitchen and college in general, alone for the first time. Spoon University's website offers stories about food, wellness, and lifestyle written by college students for college students.

Ohio University has just kick-started their own chapter of Spoon University. The organization is made up of a team of enthusiastic, food-loving college students wiling to share their experiences with food while being away at college. The team is split into an editorial group, made up of student writers that will blog for the site, as well as media group, made up of students that will work to market SpoonU specifically at Ohio University.

Spoon University's journey at Ohio University has just begun, but will only grow and expand with the strong team that is working behind it. For more information about SpoonU at OU, follow their Instagram @spoon_ohiou and join the food movement!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
