Stephen Hillenburg passed away on November 27, 2018. Hillenburg, a former marine biology teacher, was best known for creating "SpongeBob Squarepants," the mega-hit cartoon beloved by millions of people of all ages. The show has taught us many lessons over the almost 20 years, even if we didn't realize we were learning.

In honor of Hillenburg, Here are 15 lessons and things he's shown us over time.
