Final verdict: "Suicide Squad" wasn’t that bad.
After watching the movie, I have to say I ended having mix feelings. First of all, the editing did not do the movie any favor. The film cuts felt choppy and its tempo was completely out of key. Ultimately, giving this film an un-cohesive plot that spiraled out of control. As it is seen through the heavy exposition at the intro of the film while introducing all the members of the Squad. This introduction felt detached since the audience couldn’t connect with most of the members. I truly wish we were giving the chance to the see the back story of "Suicide Squad" instead of having Amanda Waller simply tell it to us.
Moving forward, I must say that once you get past the plot, the movie was pretty great. I completely love the Will Smith take on Dead Shot and Margot Robbie portrait of Harley Quinn. The reason behind this is simply the flashbacks we receive from their previous live. When Dead Shot gets taken down by Batman, we saw a stripped down character with a very humane side. His love for his daughter really touch my heart, since he basically gave up his live as a mercenary for the plead of his daughter to give into justice. On the other hand, Harley Quinn flashbacks all involved the joker and his mental manipulation of Quinn as his psychiatrist. Her love for this sociopath went beyond the walls of reality since their crazy personas breaks all boundaries.
Furthermore, about a week ago I theories who the antagonist of this film would be.
Indeed, it was Enchantress played by the fantastic Cara Delavigne. The Enchantress was really badass; I must say, I was not expecting that all. By no means am I saying she was a greatly developed character we fall in love with. This really left me conflicted at the end of the day, because I really wanted to visualize a deeper and more meaningful relationship between Rick flag and June Moon which is the Enchantress’s host body.
One way they could have improved this film entirely is simply by exploring this relationship and fortifying their love. We don’t get to see how Rick Flag meets June Moon and how they even reach to the point of been partners. As a result, the final battle did not leave a strong impact on me as much as I would have liked. Getting to the good part, Enchantress is an Ancient which that has lived for 6313 years. Her mythical power extends beyond and above all the members of the Suicide Squad. She can take over people and enhanced their physical bodies, she is a magnificent teleport, she can with stand bullet shot, and is highly intelligent. Overall, she completely whooped the Suicide Squad ass.
