While we all have to be frugal and stick to our budget, sometimes in life we have to treat our selves and splurge on a good quality product. But how do you know when? No worries, I've got you covered.

1. Jeans

They-re an everyday staple in your closet. By spending a little bit more cash on good quality denim, you'll get countlessmore use out of them. Plus, no fading, ripping or fraying!

2. Shoes

Your feet are important people! A good pair of shoes should support your spine and posture and shouldn't give you cramps or blisters. Insoles are also a great option if you have really cute but really painful shoes. I personally splurge on tennis shoes rather than sandals (with the exception of Birkenstocks!) or going-out shoes.

3. Skincare

Skincare is one of the most important things you can keep up with! Prevent the aging, spots and discoloration now so you don't have to fight it 20 years down the road. Pollution and other toxins we face on a daily basis really wreak havoc on your skin, so spend some more money on quality products to repair and restore its health— your skin WILL thank you.

4. Water bottle

Whether its a S'well, Contigo or Yeti— BUY IT! I honestly don't remember how I got by without my Yeti and Contigo. They're perfect for running to-and-from classes and I don't have to worry about the contents spilling or getting cold. Whether it's 7 degrees or 87 degrees, they never fail me! Plus my water intake has increased tenfold, stay hydrated people!

5. Foundation

I know what you're thinking, why should I shell out megabucks for makeup? Foundation is arguably one of the most important and major steps in your daily routine. By investing in a good foundation or concealer, your skin will be less irritated, you'll get the results you're looking for, and the product tends to last longer. However, there are countless exceptions to this rule. Find what works best for you!

6. Pillowcases

A bad pillowcase can lead to irritated skin, premature wrinkles and frizzy broken hair. By investing in a silk pillowcase, you can prevent these beauty mishaps and ensure a good night's rest. Remember to change them every couple of weeks to stay breakout-free as well!

7. Styling tools

Regardless if it's a hairdryer, curling iron, or lash curler: quality matters. Spending a bit more on a primo machine can help speed up your routine time and can help maintain the health of your hair or other beauty areas.

8. Purse

I've been carrying around a Coach wristlet that I've had for nearly a decade and it's still in pristine condition. Good quality leather (or vegan leather) can really make or break the longevity of a bag. If you carry around your essentials with you on a daily basis, it's always good to spend a bit more on a wallet or purse that will last for decades.

9. Brushes

Just like styling tools, brushes are important. They truly affect the quality of how the product applies to the face. My favorite brand of brushes is It Cosmetics, but my favorite drugstore brand for those who aren't convinced is Real Techniques!

10. Gifts

I always feel better spending my money on other people because I love seeing the reaction on their face when I get them a really good gift. We all love amazing presents, and it's sometimes really nice to step back and be opposite of the receiving end.

11. Charity

Along with giving to other people, donating money to charities and organizations help you feel good inside while also "giving you graces into Heaven", as my grandmother would say. Places like Planned Parenthood, Kids With Wigs, or your local soup kitchen/animal shelter are great places to start. Find what your heart is drawn to and go forth!

12. Tailoring

Along with good quality clothing, it's always a good idea to spend money on quality tailoring. There's nothing better than wearing something made for you. That feeling of "fitting like a glove" can only boost your confidence level.

13. The classics

Please, for the love of God, do NOT spend your money on trends. Invest in a good classic coat, quality denim, layers— basically all of the classic pieces. No, you don't have to look like a mid-century housewife while you wear them either. Each individual piece can be used in an array of styles, allowing you to mix and match to curate your own sense of fashion.

14. Technology

My rule of thumb is to buy something that won't fall apart after a few uses and is going to get the job done the way I want it. Splurging on editing software, laptops, cameras and more ensure that I have reliable, quality equipment at all times.

15. Vacations

Also, life's too short to just buy things— you need to live life to the fullest. Buy that cruise. Get that first class seat on that international flight. See that monument. The world around us is too breathtaking to not explore it.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
