Splitting Up The Union

Sacrificing The Great To Save The Small

Hey everyone! It’s your good friend Andrew (Panama) Godfrey here with the last update on this mini-series I’m doing on making America great again. On this special final update I’m going to propose probably the most radical idea ever conceived. For such a radical idea I’m abstaining from going much into depth and not using any outside sources. This will be purely opinion, nothing more. In one fowl swoop I plan to change America for the better. This idea is so radical that I bet most of you readers will think it is a joke but, just to clarify, I’m dead serious. This idea of mine is not original and I don’t claim it to be. There is actually a book published about this very topic. However, I’m going to keep this short and sweet since we, Americans, all love short and sweet things that are easy to read.

This idea that I have is about splitting up the “Union” that we have so graciously made into the corporate wasteland it is known as today. That right, split up America in about 7-9 provinces or “pieces”. Now this may be radical to some of you but I promise it is possible to do. All the details on the plan are online, a whole slew of them really. Actually I just read that a Russian political analysis predicts it and I’m sure others do as well.

Around now, you're either not reading anymore or you are curious if this idea would work. The short answer is yes, splitting up America would actually be very beneficial for the union as a whole. With each province having its own government, they are smaller and thus it is easier for government to be aware of what is going on and, also due to smaller size, governments will be able to listen easier. Also, every province, if divided correctly, will have all of the natural resources and such in order to be a completely self-sufficient state within itself.

So there is my opinion: let’s split up and make it a little easier to fix the problems that are plaguing this country.

Expect a new format once this gets posted, a little more upbeat. Please share this blog with any friends or family that have some doubts on the way things are done around here. As always this is Andrew Godfrey signing off and telling all of you to have a great day.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
