Looking at my Steam log, I am unashamed to say that I have spent 217 hours playing Slay The Spire. The game is still in early release, but that doesn't stop it from topping out the charts with its "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews, which is a feat, as the gaming community can sometimes be unkind to Indie Style games.

A description from the developers says: "We fused card games and rogue-likes together to make the best single player deck-builder we could. Craft a unique deck, encounter bizarre creatures, discover relics of immense power, and Slay the Spire!"

The game is - as I mentioned - still in early development, which means: (1) it is currently on sale for a discounted rate - once the game comes out completely, the price will go up and (2) the game is not completely finished, meaning there are still things missing and bugs to be fixed.

Despite not being completely out, though, that doesn't mean the game is something you can run through once or twice and be bored with. As I said, I have played this game religiously for quite some time and I have yet to do around wherein I repeated myself. On top of the diversity of the game, there are biweekly patches that are coming out, constantly adding new features, which is rad as heck.

A description from the Steam page has the below attributes for the game:

  • Three core characters that each have their own unique set of cards. (With more planned)
  • 200+ fully implemented cards.
  • 50+ unique combat encounters.
  • 100+ different items to be found.
  • Procedurally generated levels.
  • Tons of unlockables

On top of all of that cool stuff, the Spire - the board that you as a player climb through - is ever-changing. Each game run is different and consists of three acts, totaling fifty diverse floors a run. And if you're in for a challenge, every day there is a competitive Daily Run wherein every player faces the same challenges with a variety of different adaptions.

In my personal opinion, this game is completely worth the $15.99 price tag. It is a self-paced game that you can pause, as well as being a diverse, enthralling game wherein you can kick monster butt and overcome the spire. It is highly recommended.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
