Police Brutality

Spiritual Warfare That Has Become Racial Warfare

There is an issue that is taking place in our country today between the law enforcement and US citizens. Lives have been lost on both sides. The intent of the police and citizen relationship is revealed in Romans 13:1-7 KJV, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God."

2 "Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

3 "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same."

4 "For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."

5 "Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."

6 "For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing."

7 "Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."

There was a breakdown of US citizens killed by police in 2016. Statistically, 484 males and 25 females were killed. Why is that? Males are more likely to commit violent crimes than women. Most males are taught to be aggressive and tough. Has that aggressiveness and toughness been used in the wrong manner? On the other hand, there are 238 whites, 123 blacks, and 79 Hispanics who have been killed by police. Are these statistics accurate? Maybe or maybe not, but the root of this issue is far beyond what individuals see in the physical. The bible says that God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) and that's what the enemy is trying to do in our land. The devil knows that his time is running short, therefore he's trying all he can to distract people from God. The bible says in Revelation 12:12, "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." He's trying to turn these police killings into a black vs. white thing again. Don't get me wrong racism does still exist and it has never left. I don't agree with racism at all, but know that the enemy has to have people to operate through. He's trying to cause division in the land. Jesus said in Matthew 12:25 KJV, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand." If there's ever been a time to press in to God then it's now. Remember that All believers are protected and covered. We are covered under the blood of Jesus. I remember when Moses was sent to deliver Israel out of Egypt and the death angel came through to kill the first born son of every household that didn't have blood on its doorpost. Blood from the sacrifice had to spread on each corner of the doorpost in order to be excluded from the wrath of the death angel. I want to let the people of God know that there's nothing that could harm you because you're covered by the blood.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
