The internet is full of crazy, bizarre, wonders.
You can’t always believe what you read, and it always bugs me when I see someone share an article and believe it.
I remember I saw someone share an obviously fake article that was saying that Eminem said that the most beautiful girls are from Grand Island.
Then there’s those news stories that are from unreliable outlets, and then there're those tweets that say “Oh, I won the lottery and I’m going to share $1000 to everyone who retweets this.” Where’s my money at?
I always say it’s best to do your research before you post anything, and not just to do your research in general. The internet is full of trolls, anyone can literally post anything, so don’t be so gullible while reading some of these things. However, I am a fan of the internet in the sense that it lets us communicate with one another, and express our feelings (except some of us express too much).
Anyways, let’s get into what this is about—conspiracy theories.
The other day I was on Twitter and I ran into this long thread about someone’s thoughts on conspiracy theories. Some of them I was like, “Okay, I can see that being a thing” and others I’m just like, “That literally makes no sense.” After reading this thread, I got curious and looked into a series of videos done by Youtube sensation Shane Dawson. I really didn’t want to look at other sources because I was scared I’d click on something too creepy. Plus, he's super hilarious.
So basically Shawn Dawson has done many videos on conspiracy theories, and he plays this super creepy music in the background, and at times he tries to take a funny spin at these theories. Some I do admit have some truth to them, but like I mentioned, who really does know? After watching one video I just couldn’t stop, it was like video vomit (Mean Girls reference), and each time I’d watch these videos, my phone would die? That creeped me out, plus I would watch these when I was home alone (good one, Jazmin).
There are conspiracy theories about everything and everyone it seems. There’s a conspiracy theory that the moon landing never happened, and it was all one big hoax. The reasoning behind it is that they say that the US wanted to be the first ones on the moon before anyone else. That seems reasonable, although I’m still not 100 percent buying it. Then people get even more bizarre and believe the whole freakin’ moon is just a hologram that isn’t real. OK bye.
I honestly just watch these videos for fun, scary fun to be exact. It’s like a roller coaster, I’m scared while I’m on it but it’s fun at the same time. I’m not going to approach you at a party and be like, “Beyonce is a clone.” (People think that, look it up).
Anyways, it was something I just got sucked into, and some of these theories are downright hilarious and some are really creepy. Check some out when you have the chance, but I’d advise to not watch it in the dark at 1 a.m.
Also, on a creepy side note, when I first tried writing my article title and wrote, "Conspiracy Theories" my computer started glitching and acting up--crazy, right?
