Sring break is the one moment of light in what is otherwise a cold, windy "spring" semester. Honestly, I don't know why they call it spring semester when the weather is winter-like until finals week. Some of you may have plans, while others may be looking forward to staying in. Others of you (like me) may have had hopes of plans, but life happened and now you'll be leaving your cold campus to go back to your colder house.
If this sounds like you and you want some ideas of what to do over spring break when it didn't turn out like you planned, I've compiled a little list of things that I am very much looking forward to doing during break (especially since my college gives literally no days off during spring semester except for this one week).
1. Read novels that I've put on hold
There are so many books I've started that I've put on hold for one reason or another. The main reason I've lost touch with reading has been school and work consuming all of my time (and if you want to see how I feel about assigned reading, you can see that article here).
2. Cuddle with my pup
The one thing I will never get over is being separated from my dog while away at college. You can't call your dog (not really) and you can't text your dog. There have been many nights I wanted to just cuddle up with my dog but could not, so I will absolutely be taking advantage of the time I have with her.
3. Try new recipes
When you're at college, it's hard to try new and exciting meal recipes, mostly because you lack new or exciting ingredients and/or proper cookware. I have been gifted several cookbooks by very kind people over the last few months, and I cannot WAIT to make some more recipes from them.
4. Catch up on sleep
This is a BIG mood. I think this is the most relatable one on this list quite frankly. College students are the most sleep-deprived population of people, and I specifically do not appreciate having a schedule that on some days goes from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. I know I definitely don't have the worst schedule most days, but I often find myself exhausted at the end of every day. It'll be very nice to not have to set any early alarms for a whole week.
5. Eat food that actually tastes good
Let's be real, campus food is not it's cracked up to be. Actually, I don't think I've ever heard someone say that they really enjoyed a dine-in meal at all. That being said, being able to go get some Witches Brew or Little Beet back home is definitely something I've missed.
6. NO. ALARMS.
I cannot stress enough how amazing the thought of not having any alarms or Google Calendar notifications going off is. No classes to attend, no meetings to go to, nothing. If you try to wake me before I wake up naturally, we are GOING to have an issue.
If you need to contact me, you'll know where to find me (but please, do not contact me. Please).
