Spending Dog Days With Your Dog
LovetoKnow

It's summer - you're out with friends, on vacation, or maybe (still) studying school material for reasons unknown. Day in and day out, you're making plans and relaxing in the sunshine or swimming in the pool...but what about your furry friend? Chances are, you maybe say goodbye to your dog as you're off to yet another lunch with another friend, or another shopping trip for still more summer attire, leaving your furry friend home alone. Dogs can actually get very lonely, just like we can. In order to keep them happy and let them know they're appreciated, here are a few things that you can do with your dog this summer instead of leaving him/her home alone yet another day.

1. Running Buddies!
Maybe there's a dog park right up the street that has plenty of paths for your dog to explore and discover, or maybe some running trails you can jog down together. Instead of going to the gym alone, why not get the exercise of a long walk while also giving your dog a chance to get out of the house? Not only are you staying healthy, but so is your dog. Besides, running alone is boring, anyway.

2. Fun in the Sun
Many dogs enjoy the outdoors. I know my dog for sure can't keep his legs from dancing every time he hears the word "out". But if it's too hot to walk, why not take your dog for a swim? Many dogs are capable of swimming, and they even make little doggie life vests if you're worried about your furry friend's well-being in the water. However, if your dog won't get in the pool (or isn't allowed to), you can try a new take on the "cat/laser" game and play "dog/water hose" outside instead. Not only is it hilarious to watch your dog attempt to catch a stream of water, but it will cool them down and give them the opportunity to get outside.

3. Road Trip!
Preference varies for all dogs, but from what I've seen, majority of dogs LOVE car rides. My dog for one won't sit anywhere besides the front passenger seat with the window cracked and the AC on full blast. And not only is it fun to take your dog out with you, it's fun to find a destination together. Maybe it's that dog park, 30 minutes away. Maybe it's an old friend's house. Hopefully, it's not the vet. But honestly, dogs will do anything just to be with you. Honor their love for you and take them with you the next time you're going to the park. However, DO NOT leave your dog in the car alone this summer. Dogs being left in hot cars has become a huge issue. A huge, controversial issue that will be touched on later :).

In short, is important to let your dog know that you love them. I know that my dog loves summers because nearly my whole family is home, giving him love and company. You surely have your dog for a reason - why not prove to them the importance of that reason? Your dog loves you, needs you, and will do anything for you. Show your furry friend that you appreciate them. Safe summer fun is important, however. If you notice your dog getting overheated or overtired, take him/her back inside to cool off. Happy tails, dog owners and lovers. Have a great summer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
