We should talk about God as we do those who are important to us. Brag on him! He did the ultimate awesome thing! What do I mean when I say this exactly? I mean talk about God like you do your favorite celebrity. It should be as simple as that. I remember once having a conversation with God that went something like this:
God: Hello my darling.
Myself: Hey there God.
God: You spent time with me today?
Myself: Yep did my five minute devotional this morning.
God: Moriah?
Myself: Yes God?
God: Do you love me?
Myself: Of course I do Lord! Why would you ask me such a thing?
God: Do you spend time with me?
Myself: Of course I spend time with you God, you know I do.
God: So if I woke you up at 5 in the morning would you get up to spend time with me?
Myself: Um...I could I guess.
God: If your favorite movie star called you to come to there house and clean the bathroom would you do it?
Myself: Of course! I would get to meet them in person! That would be incredible.
God: But you wouldn't get up for me? The one you said you love? The one who died for you?
And with that I got very quiet. I silenced myself and I started to pray. I asked the Lord to give me the sister to spend time with him. More so than I anything I asked that he help me want him more than I would want to spend time with my favorite celebrity. You see in this moment I learned one incredible lesson. You spend time with those you really love. You work to give them the attention and time that they deserve.
I realized I didn't really love God as much as I thought I did. I just...liked God. He gave his very life for me, and I wouldn't even get up in the morning to spend even an hour with him. I felt a conviction so deep and so strong that I had to take action. I had to spend time with him more. Even now as I write this article I am being reminded of what God taught me that day. You spend time with those you love.
God's arms are open wide as He waits for you to take time and spend with Him. We owe Him everything. The very creator of the universe wants us to spend time with Him. He desires to spend time with us. We all can take time out of our days to spend time with the one who created our very thinking process. So since He loves us, and we love Him, we should give Him the time that He deserves.
It was conviction that drove me to want to spend time with God again. But not just that. God has been telling me also that it doesn't mean anything unless I want to spend time with Him. It shouldn’t be a chore. My desire should be to spend time with Him. And so I start anew again with each morning. I need to do better and be better because I love Him. What will you do because you love Him?
