Capri is a wonderful island located off the south of Italy about a 45 minute boat ride from Naples. I had the opportunity to visit Capri over vacation last summer and really enjoyed the time I spent there. My day in Capri started with a boat ride around the island to look at the amazing landscape. The island is very rugged with cliffs that jut out to the sea and houses of the rich and famous sitting on top. The ocean was so blue and the day I happened to be there was the Fourth of July. Ironically one of the best Fourth of Julys that I've had was not spent in America.
There are two little towns on the island of Capri - Capri and Anacapri. I never went to Anacapri, but it's more low-key as it's on the other side of the island that is less inhabited. We took the cable car up to the top of the island where we walked around the narrow streets lined with expensive clothing shops. We walked up to a terrace that overlooked the sea and had a spectacular view. Capri is also a popular place for the production of perfumes and fragrances so there are many shop workers offering samples of the fragrances on the side of the streets. Being a very hot and sunny day on the island, it was nice to sit in the shade and sip on a lemon flavored slushy while watching the other tourists go by.
The famous Capri rocks
We wrapped our day up by enjoying the best caprese sandwich I've ever had and swimming in the ocean. I thoroughly enjoyed my day spent on Capri and if you ever have the opportunity to go there, I would recommend it. I would also recommend checking out the other side of the island and Anacapri, which I was not able to visit.
