Speed Bumps Are There To Remind You To Slow Down, Not To Keep You From Getting To Your Destination

At this point in life, we have all encountered obstacles on our path to success, be that emotional, relational, career, or any other path you may find yourself on in this lifetime. It is more than easy to be dazed in "highway hypnosis" trying to follow others on their journey, or just become zoned out and not realize how fast you may be going. Speed bumps are put in place in our lives to slow us down, regain our focus, and help us get back into the grove of finding our own success.

Many times we find ourselves on back roads with no posted signs, and we let that freedom take control and we go wild. We know we aren't following the rules of the road, and eventually, we will probably get caught or hurt. That isn't always a bad thing; actually, it is usually a great thing, once we realize it. Getting caught when we have gone off the rails brings us back down to Earth and reminds us that just because we can, or think we can, doesn't mean we should. Some days, it's much easier to slow it down and do 25 in a 25 enjoying the scenic route and taking everything in. Some days, it's even better to walk than it is to hop inside a 1000 lbs hunk of a metal death trap.

We drive through neighborhoods and parking lots with speed bumps every day. Sometimes, we notice them and politely take our time getting over them and proceeding to our destination. Others, we forget to even look and end up, sometimes literally, flying into the air, shaken up and confused. We get angry at these bumps in the road. We get upset that they are impeding our plans on how we want to get to where we think we need to be going.

It's time we all grew up, accepted the fact that there will always be speed bumps, roadblocks, license checks, and cops watching out for us. None of these are put in place to stop us from where we need to go. They're all here for the exact opposite. They are here to ensure we can safely reach our destination. Sometimes, these "hazards" are there to weed out other drivers in our lane. That just means those drivers were on the wrong path and needed directions back to their own journey. Don't let anything that slows you down, deter you from reaching your success. I promise you, if you take it slow and keep your eyes on the road, you will reach your destination one day. And none of the speeding, swerving, ass riding tactics you thought you needed will matter anymore.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
