Nothing makes life better than speaking in accents! I am most confident, that I don't go long without letting out something strange that is not my "jersey" tongue.
There are many useful and enjoyable reasons for using an accent. These being it, works as a stress outlet, is a great ice breaker, increases productivity, and is a common mood lightener.
It's great when you are assigned any type of reading and it is more of a boring read. So, using an accent increases your chance of having fun while doing your assignment. Dorky, I know. I would even study my flashcards sometimes in an accent... although my go-to was to sing them out loud. Laugh at me all you want, but it works.
For example, just recently my little sister was having such a tough time getting through a book assigned for school, and she stated that she can't concentrate while being read to. So I tried and just started reading out loud anyway.
Soon enough, we forgot we were reading because taking turns while reading in an accent was fun. We would really get into the parts. This helped to get through the book and also absorb the information better because we paid more attention to what was going on. My main go-to accent is a British accent of course. It just makes everything better.
At work, it becomes a bonding experience. "Oh hello there darling," "Why of course my little biscuit I will get you what you need." We then start to say a bunch of phrases in our preferred accent and its like there is a constant inside joke being stated, and it definitely makes the environment less stressful and more productive. Anyone who doesn't use an accent...well they are just not fun and are missing out on what the group bonds over. It's truly an experience worth repeating.
It never gets old.
In meeting someone, using an accent is 100% humorous but also spikes a conversation because your sentence will be filled with pure unfiltered joy.
If anyone is sad, it will surely bring the light back into their eyes that have gone awry.
