There are roughly 6,500 spoken languages in the world. For me, there is 6,501. Listen to the first 2 minutes of Grease's "You're The One That I Want" or we could even go as far as "Nobody", an iconic song heard around the nation sang by Keith Sweat and Athena Cage. Listening to these, there's no denying that music is a form of conversation.
For me there's so much more than just a song or a duet. Music is something that will say the words for you. It's in everybody's DNA. Whether you know it or not, it just comes to you when you least expect it. For some people, they're born with the love of music, but for others music comes to them when they need it most. For me, I was three years old singing at the top of my lungs annoying my family every chance I could with Barneys theme song "I Love You."
There has yet to be a culture discovered which lacks music. For expecting mothers, given that it's scientifically proven that babies can hear everything while in the womb, families will often play music for their child while in the womb as a way to communicate. There are some indian tribes still to this day that only communicate through music. Music is a part of our existence. It moves you in a way that objects can't. What could possibly be more beautiful than that?
I'm at the phase of life where I literally live and breathe music. I've interacted and performed almost every genre of music in the last 5 years. I took chorus every day of my highschool career, and it soon became the one thing I came to school for. Four years later, I am studying music education at Augusta University and learning things about music I could never have imagined just by listening to my radio in the car. I'm pretty sure everyone's heard this saying at least once in their life. "It's amazing how I can learn every word to a song in five minutes but can't remember a single thing that has to do with school." You might even remember the episode of Hannah Montana, when Miley and Lilly managed to fit all 206 bones into a song. It's crazy what you can do with a little bit of tune, rhythm, and thought. This is how I speak music.
