La Casa de Papel

In This Article:

Staying at home watching Netflix is always a good plan. I have to confess; sometimes, I spend more time trying to choose than watching any show. It is hard to decide; there are too many options, and we have watched already the most famous.

I have a solution for you; on Netflix, you can have some Spanish shows you will love. I must say, Spain produces several good TV shows, and it is shame you are missing them because they are non-English productions. My best piece of advice is watching them with closed captions better than English audio; original audio is the best because you can feel the feeling from the actors even though you do not speak the language.

I share with you my favorite Spanish shows on Netflix.

1. "Money Heist."

Facebook: La Casa de Papel

Do you remember the first season of "House of Cards" or "Stranger Things?" Do you remember how you could not stop watching until the last episode? With "Money Heist," you will have the same experience or better.

This Spanish TV Show has one of the scripts I have ever watched. "The Professor" has a plan to perform the most important robbery in the history. I promise you this TV Show is full of surprises and suspense. Actually, it is the most watched non-English language series on Netflix ever.

2. "Velvet."

Facebook: Velvet

If you like romantic stories, this is your best option. "Velvet" is the story of Ana and Alberto who have been in love since they were kids, but like any good love story, there are many obstacles in their way. The TV show is in Spain in the 50s, and all the character work in Velvet Galleries, a high-class female clothe store.

The first season is the most boring of the four seasons. After season two, the TV show gets better because the love store is not the center of the story, and we can enjoy more the other characters who are really funny and with great stories, and excellent evil characters.

I highly recommend "Velvet." It is a guilty pleasure; also, you have Miguel Angel Silvestre played Alberto (you never have enough of Miguel Angel Silvestre).

3. "Velvet Collection."

Facebook: Velvet Colección

It is a "Velvet" spin-off. The story starts five or six years after the last episode of "Velvet." No everybody is located in Barcelona with a new store of Velvet Galleries. Ana and Alberto only make some appearances in the new TV Show.

In my opinion, I like even better the spin-off than the original TV show. It is less romantic, but we more nice characters.

4. "Cocaine Coast."

Facebook: Fariña

I am not a fan of drug dealers or drug kings' stories. I think these people have destroyed several lives to make them TV starts; however, "Cocaine Coast" is an excellent narration of drug business in Spain in the 80s and 90s.

The TV show has an enjoyable script, outstanding characters, and better art direction.

5. "The Mistry of Time."

Facebook: El Ministerio del Tiempo

"The Mistry of Time" is considered the best drama Spanish TV show. It is the story of a secret department of the Spanish government which in charge of resolving many historical issues (or manipulating the history of the world). "The Mistry of Time" is a kind of "Back to the Future" TV show but more accurate.

The show has suspense, action, and history; each episode will make you paralyze until the end.

I promise you will love these five options, and you will learn more about Spanish culture (you will want to travel to Spain soon).

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
