Five People I'd Rather Vote For In 2016

It's an election year, which means it's a year in which people who care about politics become more vocal about their political beliefs and people who don't are forced to pretend. I find myself landing somewhere in the middle. I recognize the importance of politics in the modern world -- though I should definitely care more -- but I am certainly not as well educated on the issues as I should be. Based on what I have read about the 2016 presidential candidates, I'm not particularly passionate about any of them. So, here's a list of people I'd like to run for president instead.

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun

Tyler and Josh make up the band Twenty One Pilots. They're the best of friends, so it's justified to count them as one person. It doesn't matter who's the president and who's the VP because every decision will be made together. Not only would Tyler and Josh look great on national television giving speeches (or singing them) in front of an American flag, but they genuinely care about human beings and would have our best interest at heart.

Taylor Swift

Our little country bumpkin has come a long way, hasn't she? Taylor has shown that she knows how to stand up for herself and for her friends (which would be everybody if she were to be our fearless leader). Also, think about it, instead of a boring speech, the State of the Union address could be a slamming concert. What fun.

Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison, author of novels such as "The Bluest Eye," "Song of Solomon" and "Beloved," is what you could call an outstanding human being. Simply put, she just gets it. She once said, "Anger...it's a paralyzing emotion. You can't get anything done. People sort of think it's an interesting, passionate and igniting feeling — I don't think it's any of that — it's helpless...it's absence of control — and I need all of my skills, all of the control, all of my powers...and anger doesn't provide any of that — I have no use for it whatsoever." What more do you need?

Jack Antonoff

I mean, come on. Look at him. Jack is a creative genius; he's been part of the bands Steel Train, Fun and Bleachers. He has either written or co-written all your favorite songs: "Brave" (Sara Bareilles), "Out of the Woods" (Taylor Swift), "I Wish You Would" (also Taylor Swift), "Stand by You" (Rachel Platten) and "House on Fire" (Sia) -- among others. He knows how to work hard and treat people right. Also, he's hilarious.

Kanye West

Just kidding. He's the worst.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
