Rhythm Nation/BMG Records, SM entertainment, Mind of a Genius, Republic Records, Bad Boy Records/Arista

Welcome to another week of OPOW! Your weekly playlist that is custom-made for your ears’ pleasure. Some songs will be old and some songs will be new. Overall, these five songs will help you get energized for this week. Here are the five songs to play for this week:

“4 Walls” by f(x)

Released from their album by the same name, Korean girl group f(x) releases their now-hit song “4 Walls”. “4 Walls” is an experimental house song about thinking of their lover and get closer to that person. However, their lover appears as a mirage and a maze to be closer to them. This song may not be fast house music, but it is easy to listen to when you want to relax. If you want to find new house music or K-Pop music, f(x)’s “4 Walls” will be a great start.

“Focus” by Ariana Grande

After a successful tour, Ariana Grande came back with her new song “Focus.” The “One Last Time” singer brings a new sound for her upcoming album Moonlight. “Focus” is a powerful and cheerful song about having someone focusing on the singer whether is on love or achievement. Whether you like the song or not, no one can’t deny that “Focus” will bring new sounds for the singer’s new album coming soon. Grande’s song will help you “focus” on yourself and make your week sound more exciting.

“Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G

Many people know this song from the radio or on their friend’s iPhone. One of the most recognized hip-hop songs, “Juicy”, is Notoriously memorable (pun intended). Notorious B.I.G’s 1994 hit song “Juicy” is about living a dream of luxury when he rose to fame with his lyrical talent. Even though the song is twenty-one years old, “Juicy” is still one of the most recognizable songs from hip-hop to today’s pop music. When you’re relaxing in your room or feeling like you want to chill like a millionaire, listen to Notorious B.I.G’s “Juicy” because it will make you Notorious.

“Weight In Gold” Gallant

R&B singer Gallant croons about putting weight for his lover and how he can’t carry all of this weight on his own. “Weight In Gold” brings sadness of wanting your lover back and take them away from loneliness. While this song is a sad love song, “Weight In Gold” shines with expressive feelings and soothing beats.

“Burn It Up (ft. Missy Elliott)” by Janet Jackson

The Queen is back! After a long hiatus in the music industry, Janet Jackson returns with a new album Unbreakable. Unbreakable includes new music such as mellow songs like “No Sleep” and club-like songs like “Burn It Up” Featuring rapper Missy Elliott, “Burn It Up” is about going to a club and showing everyone your confidence through the music. “Burn It Up” marks Jackson’s return to music and quickly grabs number 1 in the Billboard charts during its album release. Welcome back, Janet Jackson.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
