So, apparently if you're a part of Greek life, that is called paying for your friends now? Well, if you are not in Greek life and you are not paying for your friends, I bet you're wondering what it's like to pay people to call them your friends right? So I'm here to inform you all on what it's like to pay for your friends since that's all us Greeks do. You get what you pay for, and this is what you get:
1. A home away from home- Joining Greek life has given me and everyone else a home away from home in college. Without some of these people I pay for by my side, I wouldn't know what to do being so far away from my family, friends and hometown.
2. A support system- Being so far away from home and all of my very best friends, I need someone to go to when something is bothering me or something goes wrong in life. Being alone is the worst feeling but with all these friends I pay for, I'm never alone!
3. Family- So when I pay for my friends, I also pay to have a family! Awesome right?! I get a big and a little and all kinds of family members for one price a month! You know, I'm not sure if it gets much better than that.
4. Leadership- Being Greek gives you many leadership roles and responsibilities that you can use not for years, but for life. Without some of these leadership opportunities, some of us would be lost and we'd have a lot less things to brag about in a job interview, just saying.
5. Academic support group- All of these friends I pay for, can help me in any of my classes, study with me, tutor me, give me the 411 on which classes and professors to take, and just motivate me to do my best in school and make grades.
So how does paying for you friends sound?! Is anyone down for buying some new friends?! No, but seriously, the joke is over and everyone should at least consider going Greek and understand that if I'm paying for my friends, I certainly do not pay enough!
