Say hello to the most universal dish that the world has to offer. There is absolutely nothing that I don't like about soup because the different options are endless. It can be as easy or as hard as you want to prepare and can be enjoyed at any time of the year, in any country, by everyone. Here are a mere 10 of the one million reasons why I really love soup, and why you should too.

1. It's pretty much the easiest dinner to make because it comes from a freaking can.

As a college student who is constantly trying to balance my busy schedule, the last thing I want to think about some nights is what to prepare for dinner. I am constantly in need of a quick and easy meal that takes no thought to prepare. Over the past few months, I have learned to cherish the simplicity of opening a can of soup, popping it in the microwave, and basking in the beautiful aroma of a steamy bowl of soup. It doesn't get much better than that people. These are a few of my favorite store-bought soups: Amy's Organic Alphabet Soup, Amy's Organic Chunky Vegetable Soup, Progresso Light New England Clam Chowder, and Healthy Choice Cheese Tortellini.

2. Or, you can get fancy and make a big pot from scratch!

Although popping a can of soup into the microwave is an easy and tasty meal, sometimes I love to put in a little extra elbow grease and make a delicious and hearty pot of soup from scratch! Here are few mouthwatering recipes that are sure to excite your taste buds: Loaded Veggie Nacho Soup, Roasted Butternut Squash and Bacon Soup, Broccoli and Cheese Soup, Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, Thai Noodle Soup, The Perfect French Onion Soup, and Ultimate Chicken Noodle Soup (pictured above). 3.You can put anything in soup. If you like it, throw it in!

Chances are, if you like a certain food, you can throw into soup, and bam, you've got yourself a new tasty concoction!

4. There is never a bad time for soup because there's a soup for all seasons!

Although people tend to pair soup with colder weather, don't forget about some of the lighter options for those warmer months! Try this refreshing Lemon Soup with Chicken and Israeli Couscous during the sweltering summer months and try whipping up this Easy Springtime Crockpot Minestrone (pictured above) during the spring to satisfy your post-winter soup cravings.

5. You can pair soup with other delicious foods!

The match made from heaven: tomato soup with a melty grilled cheese. Crunchy oyster crackers are also a great addition to a bowl of creamy clam chowder. Or, my personal favorite, pair some buttery Ritz crackers with a hearty vegetable soup! The delicious options are endless!

6. You can always tell when someone is making soup because the aroma fills up your entire house with its delicious simmering smell.

There is nothing better than walking into a kitchen that is overflowing with the delicious aroma of a simmering pot of soup. If the delicious smell of soup isn't enough to awaken your senses and bring you endless happiness, you, my friend, are done for.

7. Soup literally makes you feel better.

Did you know that smelling the steam from a bowl of soup can help clear up your sinuses? Also, studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center propose that there is a connection between eating chicken noodle soup and recovering from the common cold!

9. It's a drink and a meal all at the same time!

Don't feel like washing any dishes? Put your soup in the just about any container and you're good to go! Zero effort required!

10. It's the best meal to warm you up.

If you're feeling a little chilly, soup can literally warm up your body.

Go forth, my fellow soup lovers, and spread joy with the mighty power of delicious soup!
