Minnesota's very own Soundset is an amazing showcase of over 40+ artists all performing in one glorious day. It is unlike many festivals due to its sole Hip-Hop nature and the fact that it is only a day long. It is also a more convenient music festival for people to attend because they only need to worry about one day rather than two or three. Not only is it more convenient but it is more enjoyable as well, Hip-Hop fans can flock to the Minnesota State Fair grounds and bathe in every glorious minute of the 10 and a half hours of pure Hip-Hop bliss. Rather than spreading the artists out throughout multiple days Soundset has doubled down time and time again on their one day only extravaganza, and it’s been working.
Throughout its years of existence starting in 2008 Soundset has attracted some of Hip-Hops biggest names including; Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Nas, Ice Cube, and many others. The festival originally started out showcasing acts such as Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, and Brother Ali but quickly grew into a much bigger stage attracting some of Hip-Hops most notable rappers and DJ’s.

Soundset is ultimately a Hip-Hops fan’s dream come true, and Soundset 2016 is a dream that many wish lasted forever. 2016's Soundset was the first year the festival was held at the Massive Minnesota state Fair grounds opening the doors for the biggest Soundset yet, and it didn’t disappoint. The festival garnered the acts of ASAP Rocky, Future, Common, the Roots and others. With four separate stages Soundset 2016 had more music than ever before leaving music lovers with a multitude of acts to chose from. It also didn’t hurt that the infamous Sweet Martha’s Cookies and fry stand were open the entire day.
But what made Soundset 2016 so special was its exquisite showcase of up and coming rappers as well as Mainstream artists like GoldLink, Anderson .Paak, Post Malone and Jay Rock. These artists all performed at earlier times or smaller stages allowing fans to get close and personal with some of Hip-Hops greatest rising stars.
