More than just a best friend.

A Soulmate Is Not Necessarily A Lover
Natalie White

At 17, I think it's safe to say that I've found my soulmate. It's also safe to say that my soulmate is my best friend, not my actual lover.

A soulmate is someone that you connect with instantly, someone you can trust with your life and can't live without. After 17 years of making new friends and watching many friendships go down the drain, I came across a girl by the name of Heidi Marie.

It might sound like we've known each other for quite a while but, the truth is that until last year at this time, we've never acknowledged each other. It's even crazier to think about the fact that we were in the same dance class for that entire year and never said one word to each other. Now here we are, a year later, closer than ever!

Now the best part about having a soulmate, is that they know you like the back of their hand. If your sad or hurt, they automatically pick up on it and attempt to cheer you up. And just like any relationship, you will have those stupid, pointless fights. But the great part, is that no matter the situation, this person will always be there to pick up the phone.

For me, I knew instantly that I had found my soulmate. The more that I got to know Heidi and spend more time with her, I discovered she only wanted the best for me, as I do for her. She never dragged me down and made me feel bad about myself. Instead, she taught me to be proud of who I am. Heidi Marie is the type of girl who never talks behind my back. She always tells me what I need to hear, straight to my face.

Most importantly, a soulmate is your 'ride or die.' Always there for you, no matter the day, time, weather, etc. They're always there when you need them the most. They'll bail you out of any situation, except I know my soulmate, Heidi Marie, wouldn't be bailing me out. She'd be in handcuffs right beside me, lol. But that's how I know she's not just my friend or sister but, my soulmate!

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
