When I first stepped foot into the pristine, lemon-lavender-smelling studio, I was a little intimidated. Everything was a vibrant white — the floors, walls, countertops, bright overhead lights. It was crowded, really crowded. People of all ages exited the studio, sweat dripping down their faces. I squeezed in with about thirty others for an 11 a.m. class.
To my relief, a cheerful SoulCycle employee could tell I was new at this and lead me to the check-in desk. I filled out some paperwork, signed-in, and was given cycling shoes. At 10:50, I was guided to the cycling studio. Lights flashed in the otherwise extremely dark room, as I looked for bike number 28. Most people were already on their bikes, stretching and warming up, I was a little behind. Nevertheless, the cheerful employee helped me set up my bike and gave me the rundown on all of its features. I was finally prepared for class.
At 10:57 an energetic blonde-haired woman ran into the room and hopped onto the center bike. "It's Sunday…it's 11 a.m…I'm tired, but you're here and so am I…Let's do it!" she screamed.
On this order, my fellow classmates and I started pedaling to the upbeat, loud music. The instructor sang, danced, and remained motivational on her bike. By the second song, I was hooked. How could a workout be so fun? I continued through the class with a smile on my face, and by the last song, I was sad the class was over.
"Let good things happen in your life, find your soul," the blonde-haired instructor said, gasping for air. "Have a great Sunday!"
I hopped off my bike, taken aback by what I had just experienced. 45 minutes of fun, hard work, and motivation — this was much more than your typical "workout class."
Today, I can call myself a regular at SoulCycle. I no longer need help setting up my bike and signing-in. But what has remained since my first SoulCycle experience is the feeling of bliss and accomplishment I get whenever I walk out of the studio.
For these reasons, I recommend SoulCycle to anyone and everyone I know. You won't regret it.
