As I have previously mentioned before, Soul Purpose is going to be a new theme with my articles that explores how we can live our lives with a sole purpose to lead souls to Christ. This week we are going to be discussing something that I would like to title, looking up.
Have you ever walked a specific path or road so many times you know exactly where the cracks in the sidewalks are? Since I’ve been back to school, I’ve found myself walking the same exact path multiple times a day getting to and from my classes and my dorm. Because I am walking this path many times a day, I don’t even watch my feet anymore. I trust that they just know the course they are to go, and they guide me without me needing to specifically focus on it. Sometimes I don’t even look straight ahead, sometimes I just look up. On the other hand, if you are unfamiliar with a path or if you are unsure of where you are going, sometimes you will just keep your eyes on the ground making sure that your feet are going where they need to go, and you won’t trip over anything. But once you have traveled the same path so many times you begin trusting your feet to guide you without putting any thought into it. You no longer need to think about how to get from point a to point b, but instead you can look around. When you get the chance to look up, you start to question why you don’t look up more often.
This is similar to our walk with God, no? Often times we find ourselves looking down, not trusting where we are being lead. We feel the need to try to help guide our feet, watch our path, and keep looking down for fear we may fall. It’s only when we start truly trusting God to lead us along our path and we become so familiar with walking with God and Him leading us that we will no longer need to look down, but we can look up. When we look up, it’s then that we can begin living with soul purpose, because then we can see those people that God has put in our path. Until we decide to trust God to lead us and quit trying to lead ourselves, we will not be able to focus on anything other than the path which we are traveling on. It’s when we begin to trust and have faith in God to guide us that we can begin focusing on the things that we were intended to do so and being living a life with soul purpose.
Prayer: Pray this week that God begins to instill in you a faith and confidence to not look down, but look up and be ready for those who you will see along your path.
