I know that it is very easy to get lost in the dirty dishes and the trash that isn't being taken out. Going to sleep seems like the best idea on a Friday night where you have nothing to do and there is nothing really wrong with that, I guess. Although, cleanliness is the key to relaxation so why not indulge?

Growing up, I always associated my clean bedroom with a sense of peace that only a freshly organized room could bring. Everything was finally in its place and there was no reason for me to stop everything I was doing to pick up my carelessness off the floor. I think that keeping your bedroom and living space clean, not only is a good mantra to live by, but it is also good for your mental health.

I have noticed that when my bedroom floor is full of clothes and my sink is full of dirty dishes that are being ignored, I slowly lose my sanity and everything in God's green earth irritates me. Personally, I do not understand why there cannot be 5 minutes that are set aside for cleaning some dishes after cooking. I feel that I'm procrastinating on something that I decided to do and in turn, I am left with a sink full of dishes and an frustrated mentality.

I am a strong believer that you need a safe, clean, and comfortable place to live and work in and I mean really, how can you come home and relax from a long day of work/school if your room is a mess? You just can't. I am obsessed with my kitchen being clean and everything being set in their place. Try it out. Make your living space one that is inviting and relaxing and I promise you that the calm, creative vibes that you are looking for will start to flow.

Once I started viewing my space as a canvas that I should protect and keep clean, my whole perspective of the world changed. I was able to achieve the goals that I had set for myself for the week. There was no stress or anxiety ignoring messes that I was too lazy to deal with.

Throw the old leftovers out of the fridge, take your trash out, and for the sake of Pete, please wash your sheets. A clean room reflects a clean mind and from that you can sprout your wings and live in a space that not only is clean and tidy, but you can decorate it and make it your own! Finally, you can get that cute chair at Urban Outfitters that you were dying for.

I am deserving of a bed that smells like lavender every night and my clothes organized so I can ~actually~ find something to wear when I need to. So, I'm sorry, but not sorry that I'm a neat freak. It's the way that I am and really the only way that I can function and not lose my mind.
