A Thank You To My Sorority Sisters

I couldn't make it through the week without you.

A Thank You To My Sorority Sisters

Dear Sisters,

This may be cliche, but joining a sorority changed my life. I constantly have stuff to do. I feel that I'm finally giving back to my community. I help raise thousands of dollars for different philanthropies. But what I value most are the people that have come into my life. Being a part of a sisterhood has been the biggest highlight of my college career and I wouldn't change it for the world. Whether you have become my best friend or not, I am forever thankful for every single one of you. You make my days so much easier to get through.

Sundays are my favorite. I love ending the weekend with all of you guys. Getting together as a chapter to discuss important issues, and events going on throughout the week is such an overlooked way, we can spend time together. I love arriving early so I can hear what everyone got into on the weekends and even possibly make plans for throughout the week.

Mondays through Fridays are terrible, but my days are brightened when one of you randomly sits with me in between class. A simple 'hi' as we pass one another in route to class. Seeing a familiar face in a crowd, knowing that everyone has their own Monday problems, and they still make it a point to smile and wave. Sometimes that simple hello makes my day 10 times better. After our daily run-ins with each other, we still manage to get together with someone for dinner, or go to a sisterhood or social where we can get to know someone in our chapter that maybe we don't know as well. I love having conversations with a sister who I might not be that close with, realizing something we both have in common, and completely bonding over it. It makes that saying that we typically use during recruitment, "You'll never be alone," true. You'll never know how much a single 'hello' or sitting down with a sister who is sitting alone and sparking up a conversation means to a specific person, and to me it means the world.

On the weekends, thank you for always being down to go out and have fun with me. No matter what my initial plans for the night are, I can always depend on one of you to make my night 10 times better. Thank you for letting me borrow your clothes or shoes when my own closet just wasn't cutting it. Thank you for always reassuring me that ordering pizza at two in the morning is a great idea. Thanks for waking up and recapping the night the next morning because I had to have missed something in all of the chaos that was the night before.

Thank you for getting me through the week. And finally, thank you for being the best sisters a girl could ask for.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
