It has been one year later, and a lifetime of growth. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine how quickly that those butterflies fluttering about my stomach would take me home: home to Alpha Delta Pi. A sisterhood of inspiring women, bonded beyond their own collegiate chapter to build relationships across the country. Recruitment week was full of shaking hands, watery eyes, and smiles so wide that my cheeks cramped. Looking around me, each girl seemed so much older and wiser than I could ever aspire to, and now a year later, I am one of those girls.
There was no magic potion that got my life together, and I still fall short of expectations; however, a year later and I am comforted by the knowledge that there will always be a sister to help bridge the gap. Cheering alongside the women who joined the Theta Upsilon chapter with me last year, being led by women who taught us what it meant to be a proud ADPi, and welcoming the new potential members was a joy that left an imprint on my soul. It was only 365 days, and everyone changes in college, but in that moment of unbridled joy I was surrounded by my past, present, and future.
