Sorority Mom's Weekend As Told By Real Housewives

Sorority Mom's Weekend As Told By Real Housewives
Bravo TV

It’s our favorite time the year. Spring has sprung and college campuses become even more full of beautiful women as several sorority moms weekends have begun taking place. We have been counting down the days until our mothers grace us with their endless excitement for the weekend in store. From brunches, to wine, to shopping, to even more wine, moms' weekends are always full of great mother-daughter bonding and endless mimosas.

Similar to these weekends full of fun, the "Real Housewives" is often full of laughter, cocktails and craziness. From Beverly Hills, to New York, to Orange County, "Real Housewives" is a television series that has taken on a life its own, which is why it is the best way to describe every sorority moms weekend and all that fun that ensues.

When your mom calls you on the Thursday before and is beyond ready for the upcoming weekend.

When your mom’s car pulls up on Friday afternoon and it’s as though she had never left.

When you arrive with your mom at the Friday night social and she heads straight to the bar for a cocktail.

When later that night you get back to your mom’s hotel and nothing looks better than her plush king size bed.

When you take your mom to the Saturday morning breakfast and immediately ask for mimosas.

When your mom spots all of the cute shops and boutiques around campus.

When you tell your mom about the group wine tasting planned for that afternoon.

And, once at the tasting, you look over at your mom and you see her doing this:

When you tell your mom about the next organized activity.

And she responds …

When you arrive at the mom’s weekend dinner and it’s chaos to even try to find a seat.

When you both realize that you are being served and that it is not a buffet.

And the first thing your mom tells the server:

When your mom and your friends’ moms begin bonding and decide to head to the bars.

And you walk into the club with so much swagger.

When you tear up the dance floor, mother-daughter style.

But after a few hours of slaying the club, you realize it’s time for a late-night snack.

And the next morning, when you and your mom look at each other:

You hug goodbye and shed a few tears.

And remember that your mom is your best friend and nothing will ever change that.

It only comes around once a year, but mom’s weekend is truly a time to be cherished. It is in these few days we get to celebrate our amazing mothers and give them a snippet into our life in college. While we only have minimal time to spend together on campus each year, nothing could ever replace the important lessons you have taught us throughout our lives and the endless dance parties and glasses of wine that are to come.

We love you, moms!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
