I read this article called Sorority Chapter Meetings As Told By Dogs and I was surprised at how pessimistic it was. If you really dread going to sorority events that much, maybe you should reconsider being in one.

If you're in a sorority, you're required to go to weekly meetings. How they run and which day they're on varies chapter by chapter and school by school, but they're all pretty similar. Tuesdays are my favorite because I get to go to meeting! Here's a breakdown of why they're so great, accompanied by cat gifs because cats are also great.

One meeting a month is formal, a great excuse to dress up!

Honestly when else am I going to wear all these dresses in my closet?

It's Tuesday and you can't wait for class to end so you can run over to the house.

Before meeting, you have chapter dinner catered from your favorite restaurants.

Skyline, Chinese, BDubs, Chipotle, Insomnia Cookies, is your mouth watering yet?

You get to see all your lovely sistas.

Before & after meeting you get to talk to all your best friends, what could be better?

After everyone's seated, you realize you forgot your planner AGAIN.

It's OK though, sisters have your back. They'll text you later what you couldn't write down during meeting. Or in my case you write on a bus schedule and everyone around you wonders why you have a flipping bus schedule in meeting.

Meeting starts. Things are recited.

A couple people always mess up the words/lyrics and it's just as funny as it was last week & the week before that.

Council & appointed officers give their reports

A few sisters always elicit laughs from chapter while they give their reports & honestly it's the highlight of my week. This is also when you hear all the dates of things going on, which is convenient so you don't have to search through weeks of emails to find the time of that thing you wanted to attend next week.

My chapter also does this thing called Hot Seat where 1 or 2 sisters find a paper pepper under their chair. The chosen person stands while sisters compliment them, recount memories, or just say why they love that person. We also have a sisterhood journal entry read aloud each meeting where one member tells another why they appreciate that person. These types of things remind me why I love my chapter so much.

The night's over and you can't wait for next Tuesday!

But of course you don't go home til you get that late night ice cream run in, with a car packed full of sisters.

There's obviously other events throughout the week where you have a chance to see your sisters, but chapter meetings have the highest attendance. Getting to see 100+ of my best friends all in one place once a week? Count me in! Tuesday evenings are going to be one of the things I miss most once I leave college.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
