10 Essentials of the Sorority Girl Wardrobe

The unspoken rules about what every sorority girl wears.

10 Essentials of the Sorority Girl Wardrobe

The "Just Going to Class I Swear" look:

1. Leggings.

I'm not talking about just any kind of leggings here, I mean the good kind. Lululemon or Nike are the best kinds to have and the most comfortable. It is essential to have multiple pairs to ensure that you can wear them everyday of the week and reassure people that you don't just wear the same pair every day.

2. Sorority T-shirts and Sweatshirts.

You have every color t-shirt imaginable and a quarter zip to pair with each one. From cute tees to the over priced spirit jerseys, there are enough to go around for everyone. Tanks can even be sported in the winter when paired with a cute sweater. From big and little tees to philanthropy shirts, there are plenty to choose from in your overflowing drawer.

3. Tennis shoes.

Every girl has a pair to match her personality. From the popular Tiffany blue to the obnoxious neon-colored shoes, there is a pair for everyone. Ever really look at a sorority girl's sneakers and found a single scratch or scuff on them? The answer is no, because most girls don't actually buy them to workout in (at least I don't).

4. Water bottle.

You won't find me dead without my monogrammed CamelBak water bottle. They are the perfect accessory. Plus if you get is monogrammed then nobody will want to steal it from you.

5. Monogrammed baseball hat.

Rain or shine its always baseball hat time. Having a bad hair day can easily be fixed with throwing on one of these.

The "Chapter" look:

1. A classy dress.

The struggle to find the right dress to wear to chapter can be daunting. You have to make sure it isn't too short, the straps are wide enough and that it covers what needs to be covered.

2. The perfect heels.

It can be difficult to find the perfect pair of shoes to wear to chapter and will go great with any outfit. You don't want your shoes that make you too tall or that are uncomfortable to walk in, but you don't want to wear baby heels either. Just keep in mind, "If it aint hurting, it aint helping."

3. Pearls.

Pearl earrings, pearl bracelets, pearl necklaces — they are a necessity for a complete chapter look. You can never wear too many pearls. Plus, they complement my pearl-embedded pin.

4. Alex and Ani bracelets.

It's like a competition to see who can wear the most bracelets on one arm. They are fun to mix and match the gold and silver or just wear all of one color depending on what your outfit calls for.

5. The hair style.

Sometimes I rock the just-got-out-of-bed hairstyle, and sometimes I actually attempt to do something with my hair. I wish I could say that my hair looked like this, but in reality its an accomplishment if it's straightened.

Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
