Wasn't it just yesterday we were all entering our sophomore year of high school? Those were some of the best days and some of the worst days, and granted, most of us don't want to back track to the confusing and awkward years of high school. Now, here we are, on our way to entering the second decade of our lives.
The majority of freshman year was spent napping, studying and trying to figure out our place in the world (oh, and always eating while binge-watching Netflix). Freshman year of college was all about trying new things and continuing to do some soul-searching in the attempt to break into that inner shell all of us possess.
I want sophomore year to be different than this past year in a bright and positive way. We each encountered challenges our first year that helped shape us into the fresh, new people facing the world (and summer jobs) today. While the human race thrives on its adaptability and being able to change for the better, each lesson we learn either feels wicked awesome or wicked freaking terrible at first glance.
No pressure, but you should set high, but also reachable, goals for sophomore year. Classic partiers, Netflix junkies and study masters alike all have incredible potential to do some really awesome things their sophomore year, and I know you can, too.
Here are my words of advice.
Enjoy your summer and make memories that'll last you a lifetime (or at least until next summer). Save up for your upcoming school year (takeout Chinese, duh) and spend time with family, pets and friends who will be leaving soon and continuing their journey at a different school. Most importantly, take this time before sophomore year to rejuvenate and focus on yourself and how to better yourself and your environment.
Bring your A-game to year two of college and be prepared for eight or so months of hard work, challenges, new friendships good times and being a happy and beautiful you.
