If you're a Gilmore Girls fan like me, chances are you definitely cried tears of joy when you found out that Netflix signed on for a Gilmore Girls revival. This revival will consist of four 90-minute episodes. And all of your favorite actors will be back: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, and Kelly Bishop have all signed on to the project...but someone's missing. Melissa McCarthy has revealed in a tweet that she was not invited to participate in the renewal. Not invited!? The Dragonfly Inn and Stars Hollow will not be the same! We're taking this issue to the next town meeting. I say we all petition for Sookie St. James to be included in this project, and here is why:
1. Lorelai needs her best friend by her side (DUH)
Aside from Rory, Sookie is Lorelai's best friend and go-to gal. I mean, they even started the Dragonfly Inn together! They are the Meredith Grey and Christina Yang of Gilmore Girls and, therefore, it is beyond a crime to separate them.
2. She's practically a second mother to Rory
When Lorelai and Rory moved to Stars Hollow when Rory was 10, Lorelai met her soon-to-be best friend. Sookie was always there for Rory, and I can't believe that she won't be in the revival.
3. She's hilarious
Especially in that episode where Lorelai calls the wedding off but it was too late because Sookie had already become attached to the cake.
4. She's awkward in the best way possible
"And then the floor slipped..." Same, Sookie. Same.
5. Her kids are Lorelai and Rory's godchildren
I mean, come on. You're telling me that they're willing to tear apart Rory and Lorelai from their godkids? So unacceptable.
6. She has the same understanding of Shakespeare as most of us
Yup, that's basically how I remember the story going too.
7. She and Jackson make the cutest awkward couple
At first, you were probably like "Why is Sookie the Chef dating her produce guy??" and then you eventually realized that they were actually pretty darn cute together.
8. She makes the most amazing baked goods
And she was so genius that she even brought Lorelai just muffin tops, because obviously that's the best part. I'm pretty sure we've all wanted to try Sookie's delicious recipes at one point.
9. She gets us
Yes, this basically the emotional roller coaster that we all go on during throughout the week (and sometimes during just one day...)
10. It's just not going to be the same without her
You'll truly be missed, Sookie. You were on of our favorite characters and you definitely deserve a spot in the renewal. But you will, no matter what, have a special place in our hearts.
