15 Songs For Your Summer Roadtrip
P.C. Richard & Son Blog

Let's all collectively take a deep breath and appreciate the fact that it is finally SUMMER. Nothing celebrates this freedom quite like a roadtrip with good friends, but for full effect, you're going to need an incredible playlist. I've got your sing-alongs, your shameless pop songs, some throwbacks, a Drake track (duh), and more all with a hint of teen angst and some needed positivty.

1. Mr . Brightside - The Killers

Let's start this playlist off right. Kick out anyone that doesn't scream along, they can not be trusted.

2. Fat Lip - Sum 41

Keep the energy up, just keep your hands on the wheel unless you have cruise control.

3. Perfect - One Direction

A not so guilty pleasure. Embrace it.

4. Secrets - State Champs

Pop-punk is still very much a thing by the way. If this is news to you, it's good news. I promise, just listen to this song.

5. Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind

Okay I HAD to throw in at least one romantic / emotional powerhouse number...or two, stay tuned.

6. The Sound - The 1975

Remember that song Chocolate that become bittersweet with radio overplay? Well that band is phenomenal, channel your inner 80s vibe and get groovin'.

7. DONTTRUSTME - 3OH!3

More like don't trust me with the aux cord because I have no boundaries, apparently.

8. Na Na Na - My Chemical Romance

"The future is bulletproof The aftermath is secondary It's time to do it now and do it loud Killjoys Make some noise" *hits gas* RIP My Chemical Romance.

9. Forever - Drake

Quickly assign everyone with you a person:Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem and of course Drake. Now get ready to go in.

10. but not often, - Microwave

New music isn't scary I promise! Also this band is so rock n roll, so turn up the speakers and enjoy.

11. Your Graduation - Modern Baseball

If you don't know this song, pull up the lyrics on your phone and get ready to get rid of all the anger you have towards your last crush. They probably suck. Also if you loved the first song (The Killers) I expect MoBo to be your new favorite band.

12. We Are Young - fun.

Somehow this song becomes a little less annoying in the summer, or maybe not, but hey, it fits.

13. Dammit - blink-182

Get out your air instruments and pretend you know what you're doing because this one is a JAM!

14. Inside Out - Eve 6

Please tell me you remember this song?!

15. The Great Escape - Boys Like Girls

I can't think of a better song to end on. This is the ultimate roadtrip song off of the ultimate summer album. "THROW IT AWAY, FORGET YESTERDAY, WE'LL MAKE THE GREAT ESCAPE!!"

A Few Thoughts Every College Freshman Has

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
