10 Songs To Listen To When Your Mental Health Is At An All-Time Low

These songs are for you because they serve as a reminder that you are more than enough. You are worthy. You are beautiful. You are loved. We support you and you are not alone in this battle.

1. "breathin" (by Ariana Grande)

YouTube

Ariana Grande has openly communicated with her fans about her struggles with panic attacks, depression, and anxiety during her Sweetener tour. This song motivates you to stop, slow down, and remember to breathe amidst the chaos.

2. "Hold On" (by Shawn Mendes)

YouTube

Shawn Mendes is another young artist who has opened up about his mental health challenges through his music. Holding onto anything when experiencing agony can feel nearly impossible, and this song reminds us that we must reach out to others to help us carry the heavy boulders in our life. There is so much life ahead of you.

3. "Details in the Fabric" (by Jason Mraz & James Morrison)

YouTube

An underrated piece about depression that doesn't even try to sugarcoat the pain that comes with mental health struggles, this song reminds us that our life struggles don't make us any less worthy or beautiful. We all remain beautiful through our struggles, even if we don't see it at the moment.

4. "Got It In You" (by BANNERS)

You got it in you. You are a badass and a warrior for fighting against mental illness. Allow the words of this song to continue re-affirming you of this undeniable fact.

5. "I'll Find You" (by Lecrae & Tori Kelly)

YouTube

There is absolutely no shame in asking for help. Any thoughts that tell you otherwise are completely false. Every person is someone's everything. Please reach out to a loved one and tell them how you're feeling. There will be someone who will find you in the darkness and be with you through every step of the way towards the light.

6. "Lay It All Down" (by Will Reagan & United Pursuit)

YouTube

If you consider God to be a part of your life, give this a listen. Even if you don't, I encourage you to still give it a listen. It's not one of those happy-go-lucky "just pray about it" Christian songs (we all know those exist). This song is raw and genuine in addressing the agony we may be feeling and responds with pure love and radical empathy.

7. "Fear Not" (by Kristene Dimarco)

YouTube

"When life piles up and you're feeling overcome, stand still and believe: I won't let you drown." These are one of the many things that your family, friends, and all the people who love you want you to know.

8. "Be OK" (by Ingrid Michaelson)

YouTube

Ingrid Michaelson is being honest in her wish for the day: to feel something today and to be OK. Perhaps this is how you're feeling. Let Ingrid join you in this longing for better days (those days are ahead of you, I promise you).

9. "Never One Thing" (by May Erlewine)

YouTube

The worst mistakes we have made don't define us, in the same way that our best deeds don't define us as a whole. We are not ever defined by one thing as human beings. You are a combination of thousands of things that make you the beautiful person you are today.

10. "1-800-273-8255" (by Logic, Juanes, Alessia Cara, & Khalid)

YouTube

Your life matters, dear friend. You are not invisible, we see you. You have a purpose in life and you have so many wonderful things to bring to this world. We refuse to imagine a tomorrow without you in it.

There are many caring counselors available right away for when you need them.

If you or someone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline — 1-800-273-8255. You are not alone.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
