Recently, I've been in a dilemma. I wouldn't fully say that I am talking to a fuckboy but I wouldn't say that I'm not. I guess my heart and his heart aren't on the same page. Anyways, to help me get through this very weird and very emotional time, I've been listening to a ton of songs that somewhat make me feel better about the whole situation and make me wonder, do I really need to keep stalking to this fuckboy?
1. "Love Galore" - SZA
There have been so many times where my friends and I have put the lyric "why you bother me when you know you don't want me?" on our Snapchat stories. This song talks about so many things that cause relationships to not work such as abuse, cheating, and getting into one only for sex.
2. "Wasted Times" - The Weeknd
First off, this song is totally about Selena Gomez and anyone who tries to tell me otherwise is wrong. The whole song is a mood. Especially the bridge of the song, "I ain't got no business catching feelings". Although this song is mainly about how The Weeknd was left for someone else and he is missing them dearly as he tries to move on, which everyone can relate to, by the time the bridge is sung, you completely want to let go of both the old flame ad the new person you're with.
3. "Empty Cup" - Diamond White
The first verse of the song immediately sets the tone for the song that not even smoke and mirrors can hide the malicious intentions of the boy who White is referring to. Both the pre-chorus and chorus talk about how White is going to pretend like she cares about all the lies the flirtatious boy is saying to her before she says the amazing lyrics of, "I just met someone who told me I could be his wife but he doesn't know me well enough. If I took a shot for every time I heard that shit, I'd end up with an empty cup". Once she belts out these lyrics you realize that the guy who is playing with your feelings probably spit out a ton of lies and we all know that he isn't the first and won't be the last. However, it makes you realize that most guys are illusions.
4. "Fake Love" - BTS
This song is Korean Pop music (k-pop) but if you look up the English translation of the song or just completely ignore the fact that most of the song is in Korean and sing what lyrics they do say in English, you'd realize that overall it is a good song. "Fake Love" is about how you put yourself out there for someone and do everything that you can for them but their end of the relationship is completely fake. The boys talk about how this one girl made them change their outlook on life and made them a better person before realizing the love they receive is (again) completely fake. Thus why they sing the lyrics, "love you so bad, love you so bad" and "love you so mad, love you so mad" before declaring, "I'm so sick of this fake love."
5. "Now Or Never" - Halsey
Every time I listen to this song, I feel as if I have "the answers." It pushes me to not be passive and wait for a guy that I've been talking to for a while to make our relationship official or just "fool around" with me. The lyrics of this song demand commitment and they demand them now, which is why this song is a good listen. It makes you also want to demand commitment and demand it now.
6. "Too Good" - Drake
This is the perfect duet which tells both sides of the story. But it's the chorus in this song is a nice eye-opener. You realize that you're too good for the person and they take advantage of you. Especially when Rihanna sings the lyrics "lately you've just make me work too hard for you". You don't need to work hard to be with someone because they should like you for the person that you are. So, if you're with someone that plays games and makes you work for their love, then you're definitely too good for them.
7. "Sorry Not Sorry" - Demi Lovato
Although this song isn't about someone messing with your emotions, it's more or less a song that makes you want to move onto someone new and the person who isn't appreciating you will realize that. And, you'll be totally sorry...not.
8. "Be Careful" - Cardi B
This song from the start goes hard as it describes how the Cardi B's lover is disloyal and dishonest to her before she begins to sing about how she is giving him her all and how he needs to be careful with her. The whole song puts you in a mood that gets you a little bit angry because you know that you're being messed with and you shouldn't be. It forces you to step to the plate, stick up for yourself, and throw in the threat to tell the person you're dating or talking to, that your feelings are not a joke.
