Ah, the early 2010s…what a time. I was in middle school during this time, and it was definitely the epitome of peace signs, duck faces, crackle nail polish, mustaches on literally everything, and the iPod Touch. Most importantly though, the early 2010s had tons of songs that have since been deemed "throwbacks," and everyone will sing along to them if they are played.

Recently, my roommate and I were playing songs from One Direction's first album, "Up All Night," which came out in 2011. Listening to these songs took me back since I was probably the biggest Directioner in my school, and I forgot that some of those songs even existed. That got me thinking…what other songs from around this time did I forget about? So, I came up with a list. Here are 17 pop songs from the beginning of this decade that you probably forgot about just like I did.

1. "Baby I" - Ariana Grande

Years before she released "Thank U, Next," Ariana's song "Baby I" was released on her very first album "Yours Truly." I know for a fact this was on one of my playlists on my iPod Touch in 2013.

4. "Pretty Brown Eyes" - Cody Simpson

Oh, Cody Simpson. One of the early 2010s' biggest heartthrobs that I haven't seen since the early 2010s.

5. "Pass Me By" - R5

Remember R5? I didn't until just recently. Ross Lynch has definitely improved since his Disney days.

7. "Wings" - Little Mix

Since Wings came out, Little Mix has made so many iconic songs that I listen to today. "Wings" was their first ever single and was the song that made them popular outside of the UK.

9. "Chasing the Sun" - The Wanted

As a dedicated Directioner from the early 2010s, I can say that I wasn't too big of a fan of The Wanted back in the day (if anyone remembers the feud between One Direction and The Wanted in 2012-2013, you're a real one), but I will give them credit for making one good song: this one.

10. "Love Like Woe" - The Ready Set

Here's yet another song that I know for a fact was on my playlist in middle school, and I definitely forgot about it.

12. "This Kiss" - Carly Rae Jepsen

Everyone knows "Call Me Maybe," but does anyone remember Carly Rae Jepsen's song "This Kiss?" I didn't until recently! It doesn't get stuck in your head as easily, that's for sure.

13. "Say Somethin' "- Austin Mahone

Austin Mahone was another one of the early 2010s heartthrobs that I seemed to forget about. Say Somethin' was his most popular song that he released back in the day.

15. "Chloe" - Emblem3

I completely forgot about Emblem3 until my friend reminded me of this song. I remember watching them on XFactor in 2012 when Fifth Harmony and Bea Miller were contestants. Those were the days.

17. "Kiss You" - One Direction

Thirteen-year-old me would be so mad that I just remembered this song existed not too long ago. Still a great song though, and the music video was iconic.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
