5 Songs For When You're In Your Feels

Heartbreak. Something most people on the planet have excruciatingly experienced. Most of the time from the ailment of love. Whether it be because of a love that lost its spark or a love full of lies, most humans can relate. The feeling of your heart sinking in your chest as you stumble upon something you wish you never saw or the words "I just don't think this is right anymore," come from your significant's mouth. Heartache can be a real bitch. Grab a box of tissues and get ready to sulk in some heart-wrenching ballads to get you right in the feels.

1. Heartease by TOTEM

"What a fool to think that we could be

Friends and lovers together, happily"

"We can still be friends," Often the most detrimental sentence said during a breakup exchange. Relationships often end with one side more attached than the other. Often leaving one person with a bigger gaping hole in their chest. They say time heals all, but what happens when you see that person for the first time since they walked away? It can feel like salt being rubbed into your wound. No matter what side you are on in the break, give this a listen. Give your heart ease in walking away.

2. Somebody Else by The 1975

"Our love has gone cold

you're intertwining your soul with somebody else."

It's been months, but you still have your ex on all social media. You occasionally find yourself on their profile just checking on them. You type in their name and immediately regret pressing the search bar. The first picture you see makes your heart feel as if it has imploded in your chest. They are with someone else now. You know it was best for you two to part ways, but knowing that someone else is learning the parts of their soul...breaks you a little. Someone else has replaced the spot you once held. Unfollow them on social media and vibe to The 1975 while doing so. I promise it's for the best.

3. River Of Tears by Alessia Cara

"I realize that sometimes love brings your flowers

Then it builds you coffins"

Moving on is hard regardless of the situation. Often we find ourselves finding pieces of that person everywhere we are. The park you walked through every day together, the smell of their coffee order, the jacket they left in your car. Sometimes it takes time to finally reach that point where you don't feel a constant reminder of their being. Love has the ability to make us feel on top of the world, but also like our world is crumbling. You have to be able to let yourself break down and feel the hurt to be able to build yourself a bridge. Embrace your tears, but become stronger from them as Alessia says.

4. Dangerously by Charlie Puth

"Knew we would crash at the speed that we were going

Didn’t care if the explosion ruined me"

Far too often do we fall into the trap of infatuation. Infatuation then turning into legitimate feelings. With all this comes the black hole of love which sucks you in quickly and dangerously. When you are usually the one to hold the power in the relationship, this can come as a feeling of desperation for that person as your attachment grows quite faster than theirs. Slowly, feeling that person losing interest in what once was. Knowing that at this rate you were destined to crash, you keep falling deeper until you hit the wall you've seen coming the entire time. You didn't care because the high was so much better than the low.

5. Capsize by FRENSHIP ft. Emily Warren

"Up at night I'm awake cause it haunts me

That I never got to say what I wanted"

You're sitting in your living room late night with a bottle of Moscato and find yourself thinking about all the words that were let unsaid. You broke up last Monday. Every day you've been thinking about all the times you should have said how you felt. It keeps you awake at night, replaying the moments over and over again. You keep saying that you're fine, but inside you know that it feels as if everyday your chest is getting heavier. The weight of the regret pulling you deeper in. You sit with your wine glass in your right hand and your phone in your left. Listen to this song by FRENSHIP and make the move to either capsize or get pulled to the bottom. Your move.

I hope that this list brings some sort of resonance that you are not alone in what you are feeling. As well as the fact that other people have been through what you have been through and came out alive.

Sometimes we have to love the wrong way to learn the right.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
