38 Songs For The Changing Of The Seasons Feels
Devin Brugman

With summer festivals coming to an end and football game day's beginning to make their appearance, a change of seasons is certainly upon us. I am always listening to music to match what I'm feeling and realized recently that I have never met anyone who said they DIDN'T like music. For someone whose mind runs constantly at about 120mph, music is something I use to quiet my thoughts and keep me in the moment so, for me, there is no better feeling than coming across a new song I really vibe to, or rediscovering an old one. Here are some tunes for whatever transition you may be moving through this fall.

1. "Changing of the Seasons" - Two Door Cinema Club

If this wasn't the first song on the playlist......would this article even be worth reading?

2. "Don't Let Me Be Yours "- Zara Larsson

Swedish singer, Zara Larsson, just performed at Music Midtown and got sick onstage but finished her set anyway and still killed it. She recently released her debut album and you've probably heard some of her songs without even realizing it was her. She has an incredible voice and is definitely up and coming on the music scene. One Mississippi is another great track to check out on her album!

2. "Good Nights" - Whetan (ft. Mascolo)

"Making dreams about our lives up in the stars."

3. "So Excited" - Fat Joe ft. Dre

Sometimes you're just so excited that it can be hard to find music to parallel your enthusiasm, this one does it for me every time.

4. Seafret Pandora Station

I couldn't tell you the name of a single song that plays on this Pandora station because I play it at night to help me fall asleep, but I guess that goes to show it serves its purpose.

5. "Robbers" - The 1975

"Babe you look so cool."

If you've never watched the music video or read the lyrics to this song, go do yourself a favor....the story behind it gives a whole new feeling.

6. "Always Been You" - Quinn XCII

Looks like Quinn could be the king of autumn too.

7. "Low" - Trace

"With a ruthless mouth and delicious mind."

8. "Sunday" - Earl Sweatshirt ft. Frank Ocean

"Loving you's a little different, I don't like you a lot."

9. "Tonic Water" - Moglii ft. Novaa

Great track to study to....or take a dance break to, either way.

10. "Perfect" - Bibi Bourelly

For when you're trying to pick out a killer outfit.

11. "We Don't Know" - The Strumbellas

Does anyone ever really know?

12. "Drive" - Oh Wonder

"Eighty an hour and the radio loud."

13. "13 Beaches" - Lana Del Rey

Truth be told, Lana's entire Lust for Life album is incredible but 13 Beaches takes the cake as one of the rawest and authentic songs I have heard in a while.

14. "Me You" - Russ

A song about confidence, from someone who radiates comfort in their own skin. Watching Russ perform in his hometown was nothing short of incredible and inspiring.

15. "What You Know" - Two Door Cinema Club

Oldie but goodie.

16. "Lost in Your Light" - Dua Lipa ft. Miguel

To make you want to dance.

17. "Lose It" - Oh Wonder

If "Lose It" was a color it would be this late November sunset.

18. "Something to Believe In" - Young the Giant

"Burn up a basement full of demons."

19. "After Rain" - Dermot Kennedy

"And when your heart hurts, days like today are the antidote."

20. "Hurricane" - The Band of Heathens

This song came on while I was making preparations for Irma.....so naturally I had to include it for hurricane season.

21. "It Was A Sin" - The Revivalists

"I couldn't stop it coming from afar and lost the keys to the getaway car."

22. "Another Day in Paradise" - Quinn XCII

A few summers ago I lived inside a place exactly like this album cover.....and this song is to keep all the endless summers alive.

23. "When I'm Down" - Whetan vs. Oliver Tree

If this doesn't make you dance then it's probably only because you hate dancing.

24. "Die Trying" - Michl

"Jump first and then decide."

25. "The Shine" - ayokay ft. Chelsea Cutler

For when the newness starts to fade.

26. "Agnes" - Glass Animals

If you ever meet anyone named Agnes, this ones for them.

27. "Wildfire" - John Mayer ft. Frank Ocean

For sleeping in on Saturdays.

28. "Slow Hands" - Niall Horan

If you can play this song without singing to it then I'm amazed by you.

29. Milky Chance

I can't even pick a single song because they're all amazing so just go ahead and add every Milky Chance song to this playlist.

30. "Bruises" - Lewis Capaldi

His voice is so raw and authentic, Lost on You is another great one.

31. "Super Far" - LANY

This one is for all my fellow nomads. LANY just released their debut album with lots of other good tracks, another favorite is Good Girls.

32. "Homemade Dynamite" - Lorde ft. Khalid, Post Malone, SZA

"Find each other when we're losing our minds." Another for dancing.

33. "Never On The Day You Leave" - John Mayer

This is the song John is referring to when he told Sirius XM in an interview released on August 2nd that; "I can't play the song live because I don't think I'd make it through it."

John says of the inspiration behind this song, "That's what women do. They show up one hundred percent. There is a time when they are one hundred percent with everything and then at some point, for whatever reason...not making a judgement...you or someone else says: 'nah'. And what they force themselves to do to get over you is so transformative, for good and bad, that you will never see that person again."

Above is a photo of John smiling after performing this song live at the beginning of September.

I tell you this for a couple of reasons: one, to appreciate the true artistry and vulnerability that John Mayer continues to put into his work; and two, to show that you DO make it through....even through what you thought you couldn't and sooner than you thought you could.

34. "Sidewalks" - The Weeknd ft. Kendrick Lamar

Because everyone needs a good come-up song in their life.

35. "Wait a Minute!" - Willow

"I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension."

36. "Buttons" - The Weeks

The Weeks' entire Comeback Cadillac album deserves to be added here but Hold It, Kid (Your Heart Just Skipped a Beat) is definitely a favorite.

37. "Alaska" - Maggie Rogers

I wasn't even going to include this song because I fully intend to write an entire article about Maggie Rogers coming soon, but I vibe to it at the moment so it fit the bill. Check out the music video also!

38. "Dazzle" - Oh Wonder

"Dazzle me with gold."

Hope you can vibe to this playlist as much as I do, happy listening!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour
StableDiffusion

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
