OK, admit it. When you’ve scrolled through every form of social media, run out of shows to binge-watch on Netflix, have seen every documentary possible, and are STILL procrastinating, what’s your last option? Watching those good old movies you loved as a kid of course. It’s okay, we’ve all been there. And what exactly makes us keep coming back to these movies from our youth? Is it all the bright colors from the animations? No. The humor we never got as kids that’s now super funny as adults? Maybe. But in reality, no kid’s movie has ever been complete without at least one musical number, and while some of these songs are mind numbing enough to drive you up the wall (looking at you Frozen), others will be your favorites until the end of time. Here are some of my faves that I’ve watched and re-watched over the years. Click the links to hear your old favorite songs!

1. “I Need a Hero” from Shrek 2.

First of all, if you’re not listening to this to pump yourself up for any and everything, you’re doing it wrong. You know it’s about to go down when the Fairy Godmother looks dead into the camera and says, “HIT IT!”

2. “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan.

You’re lying if you say you don’t immediately think of this song when someone says, “Let’s get down to business.” Plus this song gets you super hyped up and rooting for Mulan as you watch her beat all of the other guys in all physical activities. Heck yeah, girl power!

3. “Somebody to Love” from Ella Enchanted.

Obviously, her somebody to love (Prince Char) is standing RIGHT NEXT TO HER, but Ella hasn’t realized that yet. And if Prince Char wasn’t in love with her already, he definitely fell head over heels after hearing her belt out and seeing her dance to this classic Queen song.

4. “Status Quo” from High School Musical.

Being different is COOL, OK? If this song didn’t convince you of that, then nothing ever would. Also, this musical number totally made you want to get up on your lunch table and admit to the entire student body that you loved to do hip-hop, in the hopes that everyone would burst into song.

5. “Just Can’t Wait to be King” from The Lion King.

Baby Simba had some pipes! Of course, we all knew the impending doom Mufasa was about to face, but before that, we were also so excited for Simba to become king, especially if it meant more musical numbers like this one.

If this article didn’t get you singing and tapping your feet, I don’t know what will. Not only are these songs iconic staples from the films in which they appear in, they make us all feel a twinge of nostalgia as we listen and sing along. Sorry not sorry, these songs will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Did I miss any of your favorites to sing along to? Comment or share with your favorite song from a kid’s movie!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
