A Song to Add to Your Playlist

The music industry is constantly putting out new music; and amateur artists are also always writing music. The problem is, that the music is not always that great. It is difficult to sift through thousands of songs that sound good, but are not, and music that the title sounds a little different, but the song is actually amazing! I find it hard to find something that I really can connect to on a deep emotional level.

I was recently introduced to an amazing song called "Lost Boy" by Ruth B. As usual I was skeptical because I do not always have the exact same taste in music as the person who showed it to me, but I figured it would not do any harm to just listen to it. This song seriously hit a nerve. This lyrical song was written and recorded by an amateur artist, who uploaded it to YouTube. Over night it was a huge success, and now she has several works that are also good.

When Ruth B wrote the song, she wanted to write it about the stories of Peter Pan, but also felt as though it should have a deeper meaning to it. She incorporated the main reason why "Neverland" was created. The song opens up with this introduction, "There was a time when I was alone. Nowhere to go and no place to call home. My only friend was the man in the moon, and even sometimes he would go away, too" The character in the song feels alone and no matter what kind of outlet he turns too, he still never has a sense of belonging. This is a concept that everyone can relate to at some point in their life. The feeling of not having anyone to go to, or the people who seem to be apart of their life are gone. Like the character they search for ways to escape these feelings. The character then meets Peter Pan and they fly away from all of reality. The lyric goes, "He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe. Believe in him and believe in me. Together we will fly away in a cloud of green. To your beautiful destiny" Obviously in the real world, we do not have the option to fly away from our feelings and problems. We have to face our feelings and deal with them as they come. However, we can stop these from happening again. I feel like this song inspires the imagination to take over and create a better outlook for those who need it.You can be free to do whatever you want, be who you want to be and know people that understand who you are.

I included a YouTube clip of this song and I highly recommend listening to it. This song has touched me in so many ways and I cannot thank my friend enough for introducing it to me. Enjoy!

A Deep Dive Into Taylor Swift’s Albums: 1989 (Taylor’s Version) Edition
Edited by Hailey Hastings

I am fully emersed into diving deep into every single Taylor Swift album, which I do on my own all the time, but wanted to do it in a way where I am sharing what a special discography she has. I feel like 1989 is the perfect place to start, it's an era that changed everything, and will always be an album people automatically think of when you say "Taylor Swift."
