Warning! I may or may not spoil things (but I'll try my best not to). But just to keep it safe don't continue reading this if you have intentions of watching the movie and you still haven't been able to.
When it comes to superheroes, I'm Team Marvel. But then again I love Batman just as much as the next person, and I'm sometimes bummed that he isn't part of Marvel. Being a Marvel fan doesn't take away from the fact that I am a sucker for superhero movies. I love their action-filled plots and the lessons they can sometimes teach us.
Whenever the "Batman v Superman" movie was announced I was very excited to see how DC was going to merge the story and make it a kick butt movie. So, as you probably guessed, I watched the movie. Opening day and all. And I'm here to tell you my thoughts as I sat in that theater and took it all in.
The opening story...
Okay, it was nice for them to give us a little bit of background on both Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne and what makes them who they are now. But it was honestly a little confusing because the transitions didn't flow well.
Lex Luthor
Villains either make or kill the film. If you have a terrible villain, then the whole movie is flat because you want to be able to live through the character. Jesse Einsberg (the guy from "The Social Network") played the part extremely well. I’m pretty sure the director had a “pat yourself in the back” moment when he casted him because, wow! If you want someone to play a psychopath, Jesse Einsenberg is your guy. He’s the whole package from his personality to his actions; he brought Lex Luthor’s character to life.
Batman
The man: stop being brainwashed by those little notes, you dummy!
The suit: Wowza! That’s a lot of steel Batman … you’re not supposed to be the Man of Steel, that’s Superman’s job -- but hey that suit was pretty darn cool. I guess it makes sense because if you want to fight the actual Man of Steel then you have to get on his level of indestructibility. Although, the suit seemed way too heavy. But Batman pulled it off and with the help of that little green rock he almost got away with murder.
Superman
He’s disappointed and frustrated because as humans we cannot accept when others are different than us. Well Superman, get in line!
Although he’s an “alien” and half of the earthlings don’t know if he’s good or bad for humanity, he still spends his time saving those in need. That’s a good man right there. Even if some won’t accept him and even if they keep on blaming him for XYZ tragedies, he somehow still has some hope that they see the real him. And hey, at least Louis and Martha love you!
Wonder Woman
(Same Batman... same.)
Hot damn. Gal Gadot, you go girl! The introduction of Wonder Woman to the big screen could not have been better. It was literally the best part of the movie because girl power, am I right? I think we all have a little bit of Wonder Woman within us and to see that come to life on the big screen is pretty empowering.
Watch out boys, she’s more than just a pretty face!
Doomsday (aka Kryptonian Monster)
What is your problem, Lex? You literally want to kill everyone because you have beef with Superman. Okay, time to take a chill pill. And what in the world is that thing? Good luck killing it because it looks pretty indestructible to me. It's like Superman on steroids and with bad genes … yikes!
The ending…
I don’t want to be the person that spoils everything so I will leave this to your imagination. But wow … why?
Walking out of the movie theater, I was not completely sure how to feel about the movie. I very much enjoyed about 25 percent of the movie to the fullest because the rest was not organized the right way (in my eyes). It started off way too slow and I came in expecting a lot more action. The action filled part is probably the last 30 minutes of the movie and that’s about it. I personally think DC could have done a better job but then again they’re not Marvel. DC is trying to get on Marvel’s level but I see them far from their goal. And now I wait for "Captain America Civil War," although I am not completely sure if I am liking this whole superhero v superhero trend.
P.S. This is opinion based and I completely understand if you do not agree with me!
