College is hard. It can be overwhelming, stressful, and frustrating. Some days you are just over it. When you have four midterms to study for, three papers to write, two jobs to work, a presentation coming up and oh yeah, rent is due in a week. You will have days where you feel determined and are productive and for a small moment you will believe you have your life together. Then shortly afterwards you will have a momentary breakdown and feel like the sky is falling. These are the moments where sometimes you just have to go. Go on that spontaneous trip to California, go to the movie that doesn't start until 11:45pm, go to that event three hours away, just go somewhere with friends that allows you to have peace of mind even if its only for a few moments.
Part of our human nature is to be curious and adventurous, to long for something more. Something more than the daily routine of class, work and studying. Something more than just getting by to survive. So go! Go on that adventure with your friends, take those chances and see what can happen.
College is a great opportunity to take those chances on the things you've always wanted to try. What do you have to lose? Yes you still have responsibilities, but sometimes you just need to get work covered and save that paper for later to take a trip to the mountains with your friends. Thats what I did, I decided to get work covered and go on a random trip to the mountains for a fall hike. The trip turned into dunkin'donuts coffee, driving through a beautiful canyon, taking fun pictures in the rain, lots of potty stops on the side of the road and an enjoyable dinner in manitou springs. It will forever be one of my most memorable adventures from college and I almost said no because of life stress. Don't debate with yourself whether or not you should ask someone to cover your work shift or doubt yourself that you have to spend all night trapped in your room studying. When the opportunity comes, take it!
The oh so joyous midterms are here; I'm not sure how they creeped up so fast. Study hard, get things taken care of, and please, take a small break by stopping to enjoy life for a moment. Don't miss out on those opportunities to be shared and relationships to be built.
