Sometimes We Just Feel Like We're Talking to Ourselves

Sometimes figuratively and literally, there's a void that needs to be filled. We lay on our beds, staring at our walls and ceilings, just waiting to do...something. This is a result of when people are feeling bored and alone. It's because they believe no one is there to soak in their content and listen to them.

The fact is, no matter who may be out there for them to listen to them, people are intimidated to break free of their comfort zones. They begin to wonder to themselves why this is happening. Why this has become their life now? It's because that one special person in their life that they share almost everything with is either not there or they're in a state of mind where they can't talk to anyone.

By now, it's obvious that a lot of people lack the confidence and courage to talk to people, but it goes beyond that. A lot of people are intimidated to have thoughts inside their own head. Countless thoughts swim through the heads of people and there's so little time to talk about them all. The simplest and most intense thoughts that range from all different kinds of varieties are antagonizing them to the point to where they break down and feel all hope is gone for them.

What happens when the breaking point of those thoughts comes? They feel pressured to choose one individual person to talk to about them with and isolation occurs. As a result, they hold a conversation with themselves and they withdraw from friends, family, and even therapists. All those people are trying to do is to help them and be their source to confide in their problems with.

Talking to yourself is not all bad. If you're not the type to confront people who piss you off, talk to yourself about how they bother you or how unfair a situation is. Introverts are prone to missing opportunities to assert themselves, but if a situation ever occurs to where they need to confront someone they don't like, they would have some clue as to what to say to them and how to say it.

Talking to yourself can also improve your attention span and concentration. Yes, people who battle depression and suffer from ADD need to stop talking to themselves but notice how often you see athletes calming themselves down before an event or big game. Notice how you see politicians talk to themselves to remember a speech. Strange or not, talking to yourself can be very beneficial.

However, because there are a few perks to having conversations with yourself, that does not encourage you to do that all the time. It's been drilled into the minds a million times by now and you should know that someone out there will listen to you and they will offer advice. It's up to you to bring your courage out to talk to people and break out of your shell to go out and talk to people.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September.
