Often we dream of perfect days. Days when everything goes exactly how we plan. These days are often large landmarks in our life. Our first day of high school, our high school and college graduations, the day we get engaged, the day we move to a different town, or our wedding day.
But what happens when those days don’t go as we plan?
All too often, life has a different plan than we do. We plan for the perfect things to happen to benefit us how we see fit, and then life takes us for a rollercoaster ride that veers off the tracks. We don’t get accepted into our dream school. We end up stuck in the same town because moving is just too hard for us. We fail a class because we just don’t understand the material no matter how hard we try. Sometimes we are not in control of our life and we have to be okay with that.
More so than not, you’re cruising down the high way of life, staring at the rainbows and the blossoming flowers, and boom, you crash into this spiral of failure, heartache and you feel like you’re drowning. You know why? Because life is toughening you up. It’s putting wisdom into your mind, understanding into your heart, and peace in your soul. Our lives, especially those of college kids, are fast paced and not always intentional.
Because really whats more appealing, going to get Dunkin Donuts with your friends or going to an hour long lecture? If I had to speak for many, definitely the first one.
You can sit and plan out your perfect days in your planner down to the minute, but I can assure you that unless you have some magical fairy power, you will not pull it off. Weddings are often ran late, out of order, or have mishaps and those are planned for months upon months by a professional, so what makes you think that you, a young adult, can sit down and plan a perfect life without hardships? You cannot. It’s not possible.
So for now, accept failure, late mornings, and different plans, because those rough days are molding you into a beautiful, wise human being.
