You've probably heard numerous people tell you that it's bad to binge. That you need some self-control when devouring a plate of french fries or slice of chocolate lava cake. Something like "You should enjoy things in moderation." After all, binging is one of the worst ways to diet. Maybe that's true when you're trying to lose weight, but there are so many things in life you should be binging on.

To put it simply, life is too short and too sweet not to indulge. There are so many things to enjoy, without worrying if you've taken too much or if you should save some for later.

1.) Laughter

Robert Frost once said, "If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane" and I couldn't agree with him more. It's no secret that laughter makes us feel pretty good. When tears are streaming down our cheeks and our bellies are aching because the joke was just that funny, that feeling is priceless. Laughter and comedy is the best form of medicine to pick you up after a bad day.

2.) Music

No matter what genre you blare when you're driving or in the shower, music was made to be binged on. For centuries, music has connected millions of people as a universal language. Humans invented radios and iPods just so we can listen to our favorite tunes non-stop. Music needs to be listened to whenever you want, as much as you want, not only once in a while.

3.) Good Books

For some, reading is a bother and feels like a chore instead of an enjoyable pastime. Not everyone gets excited about going to the library or Barnes & Noble. However, I think reading for pleasure is very relaxing, and it's something everyone should at least try. Reading a story while imagining the characters and setting in your head takes you to another world. Reading can also help you grow as you learn more and maybe see the world with a new perspective. never be afraid to binge on books

4.) Happiness

Just be happy. Smile like your mouth is going to fall off your face and go through your day like not a single soul has the power to hurt you. No matter what the situation is, there's always a bright side. It's up to you to find it.

5.) Love

If you're going to binge on anything, let it be love. Love your friends, family members, neighbors or whoever else you pass when you walk down the street. Immerse yourself in love. Drown others in love. Love like it's the only time you'll ever love again. We need so much more of it in the world.

6.) This one is up to you...

The last thing you should binge on is completely up to you. Indulge in whatever you're passionate about. Whether it's singing or writing or playing baseball, why limit yourself? Sing, write, or play until you can't do it any longer. Whatever you're driven by, whatever you succeed in, don't stop! Doing anything in moderation prevents you from living life to the absolute fullest.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
