I know I promised a Spoken Word last week, but this week, something was really pressing down on my heart, and I wanted to write on that instead. A certainty throughout this life is that people will go through storms, or a hardship. Whether someone goes through a difficult time of failure, or someone has a broken heart, it's an inevitability. Sometimes, God will be the one to make those storms easier, and the rest of the times He will go through the storm and comfort you instead.
At the start of April, the school dealt with the loss of a couple students, and I will say one of the people involved in the wreck was one of my friends. Afterwards, I was faced with the all too familiar question: "Why? Why was this allowed to happen?" This wasn't fair for anyone who knew the people in the wreck, and this is especially unfair for the only survivor of the wreck. Not only does she have a long and difficult rehabilitation process, but she also has to hear that both her sister and her boyfriend were claimed by the wreck. That is beyond unfair.
At the same time I was asking all of these questions as to why this was allowed to happen, I remembered the story of Job. For those of you who don't know the story, I highly recommend you look it up. At the beginning of the book, this man named Job lost EVERYTHING: his wealth, his family and his health. That was all at the beginning of the book. The rest of the book deals with the confrontation between Job's three "friends" and Job himself. At the end of the book, Job gets a one-on-one appointment with God, who then restores to twice of his former glory.
In life, storms will be encountered by people. It's a fact of life, and there's nothing we can do about it. But you can decide how to deal with them. You can choose to try and solve it on your own, you can complain to God for putting you in this situation, or you can trust Him to be there for you in your pain.
