Thank you for the unanswered prayers.

Sometimes God Says No

This Sunday was a normal Sunday in church. As I was sitting on my pew in my small country church, the Preacher began to speak on unanswered prayers.

There are so many times in our life that we think God is ignoring what we want, but really He is saving us. Could you imagine how much of a wreck we would be if He let us do what we wanted? There are so many things He protects us from that we don’t even know about.

So, yes, sometimes God tells us no. Sometimes, it feels as if we are praying just to pray. Sometimes it feels as if we are lacking that fire for God that we want to have because He just isn’t near.

But have faith, because He is near. He is closer than anyone we have here on this Earth, He knows what He is doing, even if we doubt Him.

I’m a planner. I have always been a planner. That’s just me and my personality. However, sometimes God’s plan is not the same as my plan. Sometimes, it’s hard because I think my way is the best way and my way would be better. It’s hard to trust that the plan God has is greater than we can imagine because we are human and we can’t see it. Sometimes, it can be hard to believe that He is working while we’re sleeping.

But He is. He put me here for a reason. He placed me where I am for some purpose. I can’t always see it, but times like this morning remind me that God does tell me no, but he tells me no because He knows what is best for me. He knows what I need. He knows how my life will turn out. He knows what I will make on my exams. He knows the number of hairs on my head and your head. How amazing is that?

God, help me to remember that your plan is greater than my own, your work is greater, your love is greater, you are greater. Help me to find the beauty in the unanswered prayers.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
